Hello! THANK YOU FOR THOSE AWESOME RECIPES!
Want to share with you the recipe of a strawberry cake (for rawfoodists) - each and every ingredients was taken on the local market (except for the carob - I ordered it here - [veganmarket.wordpress.com])
Base:
- Prunes (100g)
- Cranberry (100g)
- Raisins (100g)
- Raw almonds (100g)
- sesame
For all the basics blender grind
Send it in the freezer.
For the "cheese" layer:
- cashew
- Slice of lemon, about 1 cm
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon of coconut
- 1 tablespoon of liquid honey (not sugared!)
- 1/2 cup strawberries
For the cheese layer blend into a smooth paste everything except strawberries, using a blender. We post 2/3 based on weight. To the remaining "cream" add strawberries and whisk again until smooth. Spread on a white layer.
Decorate as you want!
Well, actually all! Send it in the freezer to freeze!

I found raw veggie cracker recipes online, but no luck w/ oat groats and I don't know the proper way of using them. Would it be best to soak the groats overnight, then blend it w/ other ingredients to make the raw crackers?

I was thinking of a recipe but I was wondering if it worked with food combining principles.

microgreen sprouts of alfalfa/clover/fenugreek/radish
nut/seed paste of germinated sesame
shredded cabbage and carrot (like coleslaw)
apple cider vinegar (or lemon?)
natural salt
optional dulse flakes
optional- spirulina!!(?)
optional- beet kvass or any other veggie ferment like cabbage/beet/carrot etc

I don't know if the flavor is good, it's just something I've thought up in trying to find a 'staple' meal of some sort. Just using a raw vegan 'coleslaw' as the base, a recipe I found that used raisin and raisin soak water, raisins and grapefruit juice to sweeten it up.

But the fruits is not good food combining right? what about vinegar?

Hello :)

I just got started on my high raw diet journey last week, and I'm just loving the lightness I'm feeling every day!

I'm pretty addicted to bread and this will be a hard one to get off of..
I've learned to make raw jam with dates and fruits, so for me this is a good start.
Has anyone tried and succeeded in making bread substitute with raw ingredients?

Any inputs and suggestions will be appreciated!

I just made this recipe up a few minutes ago.

Ok, so this was a little bit of a pain, but not quite as much as you might think. Do you know the under water pomegranate seed removal method? If not, here's the video that taught me: [www.youtube.com]

4 Pomegranates
Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (I just eyeballed it - did 1 pour)
1 clove garlic
Salt to taste

Blend all very well in Vita Mix. Now run through a sieve. Will take some patience.

That's it. I do like fairly "vinegary" dressings. Always when a salad dressing would call for so much oil and so much vinegar, I'd always reduce oil and increase vinegar, but that's me.

So yummy that I had to share! AND...it's a gorgeous color!

What You'll Need:

~ 3 cucumbers - peeled, de-seeded and chopped

~ 2 tomatoes - chopped

~ the segments from an orange

~ fresh OJ and dill for the dressing/sauce

Assemble

~ add your cucumber, tomato and orange segments to a bowl

~ make your dressing by blending your OJ and dill together - if you want a thicker sauce blend the whole orange instead of juicing it

~ add your dressing to your bowl of fruit/veggies and give it a stir

Just bought a case of organic GS apples at Costco and am only on my 5th day of going raw, but out of all the produce I bought they are still just sitting there. They are not sounding good to me. So does that mean that I should just not eat them or should I doctor them up a bit so that I will want to eat them?

If so, do any of you have any ideas of what I can do with them. I am brand new to raw, so I have no ideas other than to sprinkle some cinnamon on them, which I am not opposed to. I have Saigon Cinnamon. Not organic or raw. Don't even know if there is a such thing as Raw spices.

Anyhoo, any ideas or recipes??

Thanks all!

Looking for an extremely tasty raw dinner recipe to satisfy any craves for cooked food when on an all raw fast. '110% raw' meaning no dehydrated foods, oils, salt, etc. Just good whole food combinations. This makes a very tasty recipe hard to come by.

I came up with my staple meal recipes for each day but need to change it up once a week with something more tasty. Perhaps a tasty sauce recipe to through on zucchini strips. Also raw nuts aren't available where I'm located, only raw sunflower seeds. Any self proclaimed award winning 110% recipes out there to help me out???
Thanks!

Just wanted to tell everybody a little secret about pumpkin during the holidays. As I've learned more about raw foods I learned that butternut squash tastes BETTER than pumpkin in recipes as many of you may already know. BUT, the ultimate replacement is Kabocha squash!

As many of you know cauliflower makes a great mashed potato like substance. pretty and white, especially if you throw a few macadamia's in there. BUT some of you may have experienced the extreme heat that the sulfur has in the cauliflower. When it gets blended up it releases its natural heat. SO to prevent that and make the flavor super smooth we have discovered to marinate it for a day or so first! We use a little lemon juice, salt, (we used kraut juice too,not vital) use anything you want. But i think the crucial factor is some acid and salt in a base of seasoned water. make sure its rich and flavorful so the "potatoes" taste yummy.

we are gonna make a pumpkin pie using kabocha squash, dates, dehydrated butternut squash(to help thicken it), the meat from 1 or 2 young coconuts, a little coconut oil. we are 100% raw so we don't mess with cashews, or maple syrup. its so dang hard to find recipes without that jive. I don't always want to replace things. Sometimes its nice for the recipe to be ideal as is. so we are doing our own!! happy turkey liberation month guys ! ! ! ! !

I bought a bunch of Irish Moss and tried soaking it and blending it up to use in a recipe, but it was chunky so I sat it in the refrigerator and then it started skeeving me, so I threw it out, and I think the bag of Irish Moss in the cupboard is getting those pantry moths in it. I wasted a lot of money on that stuff. I think I'll try using the Agar Flakes instead.

Bruschetta is usually bread with feta cheese. But Raw Bruschetta is different.
Instead of bread, I use eggplant.
I could have made nuts cheese with it, but today I use white Miso.
It was delicious!

1 Eggplant
1 Tomato
1 Cucumber
5 leaves Basil

1) Slice Eggplant and Tomato. Dehydrate them 105°F for 10 hours.
2) Slice Cucumber.
3) Blend White Miso and Apple vinegar until smooth.
4) Put Miso Vinegar on the Eggplant.

My kids are addicted to these! I can see it's quite a flavour trend, so instead of buying expensive ready made kale chips, I made my own recipe!

Cheesy Chipotle Kale Chips

Take one large or two small bunches of kale (organic!) and rip into bite sized pieces, no stems please. Wash well and spin dry. Place in very large bowl. Cover with dressing and massage gently to coat pieces evenly. Then spread out on dehydrator sheets and dry until crisp.

For dressing, place ingredients in blender and process until smooth and creamy:

one chopped red pepper
one clove fresh garlic
1/2 cup raw cashews
1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
juice of two lemons
1/2 cup water
1 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp chipotle powder
1 cup nutritional yeast

I'm so thankful to have found this community! I'm a newbie to a raw food diet. I have been a vegetarian for a long time, but have recently decided to go raw and see where it takes me - hopefully to great new places!

So far I've just been gathering recipes that look good to eat. I've noticed that a lot of recipes will call for cashews or pitted dates. It seems like they are used frequently as part of bases in recipes?

My question is, why do I see so much of these? Does it have to do with the taste of cashews and dates? Could I substitute dates with figs, or cashews with pistachios?
