How come we choose from just two people to run for
president and over fifty for Miss America ?

I was about to write that it has something to do with Miss America being a shallow beauty contest, and then I realized, aren't presidential campaigns kinda the same thing? Miss America contestants spend money on make-up, personal trainers, clothing, hair dressers, and maybe plastic surgery. Presidential contestants spend even more money on massive campaigns, TV ads, radio ads, print ads, hair dressers, snazzy clothing, and ad consultants. If you think about it... both situations are almost ALL about the person's "image", so to speak!

Or maybe I'm just pessimistic about politicians in general >_<

But don't forget! There ARE more than just two choices for president! There are several viable third parties, including the green party (my personal favorite).

Also, why have we turned the presidency itself into a sort of beauty pageant? I so often hear the media and the public complain about a politician's looks, sexiness, style or stage presence-- lack of any of the foregoing-- as if that was more important than their ideas, character and experience!

sure, i am attracted to certain 'types' of men

but what is on the inside ALWAYS eventually wins out on what is on the OUTSIDE

no matter WHAT

i like it when i get gifts

but really, what is inside the box will always mean more to me then the christmas wrapper, ribbons, etc. that surrounds it

i don't think i was always that way though

especially not in high school (smile)

but then i learned my lesson ( too well)

so now, when I see a handsome guy

i just think " hmmm.. he is handsome" but I never make assumptions about him beyond that because i have no idea what is on the inside

its like saying ' Hmmm... that is a nice gift wrapper"

but i wouldn't dare make a relationship out of that alone unless something else was like outergalactically UBER spectacularly SUPER compelling on the INSIDE
