Smoke after meals
Posted by: Healthybun ()

Hi!

Has anybody else heard that if you eat a meal that's acidic, like cooked food, and then smoke afterwards will temporary higher the pH in your blood and then make a feeling of wellbeing and "it tastes good".

If you heard about this, where can I read more about it?

Best of all! // Bun

Well, it may well do, because tobacco is an 'alkaloid stimulant', as many poisons are!

I do have a website (www.rawforlife.co.uk), but I've nothing about smoking on there. It was David Wolfe who said tobacco is an alkaloid stimulant. All stimulants are poisons, and of course tobacco is the worst poison of all.

Joshua Rainbow's fruitarian/raw food/breatharian book "Biotrophic Protocol" has a chapter discussing this phenomenon in great depth. Email me if you want me to send you the article (he states that anyone is free to reproduce and share the material.)

the native americans use it to heal throat and lung problems... pure clean tobacco... i actually wonder if it's all the chemicals in them that do more of the damage these days... not saying that it's good for you...but i had a shaman friend heal a cough with a series of smoking days... i can't remember exactly how he did it... but something like 1 a day for a certain period of time and then 1 ever other day and then 1 every third day... you get the idea... i have a bit of a cough... and i consider it... but i used to be a smoker and i get to caught up in it...too easily so i don't...

Soapberries are a fun berry! There is more than one way to feel good! You can whip the berries in a bowl with a little water. It makes a really nice foam, this could add some added interest to raw deserts. I know that soapberries are finding there way into some high end resturants in Canada. Traditionally some Indians added camus bulbs to make it sweeter, as they can be a little bit bitter. These days they usually just add sugar.

Some people report a mild euphoria from eating them, they do make you feel good, but I never equated that as a psychedelic plant. I don't know how they came up with that. "Tetrahydroharmol" INDEED!
[en.wikipedia.org]

In any case I ordered some online and have a few growing in my back yard, they are a way cool plant, beautiful, great healthy berries, and they fix nitrogen! The power of wild plants! gads i hope they never domesticate this plant. It would be good to make it more available, just don't mess with it!

Here's how you 'heal' a cough with smoking.

A cough is the body trying to eliminate toxins via mucus. If we ingest a powerful poison like nicotine the body will put the breaks on that and switch its energies to coping with the new invader. There will be a 'stimulating' effect as the body goes all systems go to do this. There will be a mild 'high'.

When the poison leaves the body, it can then divert its energies back to house-cleaning (this is why smokers cough in the morning, as a withdrawal effect from smoking).

Never thought I'd be explaining how smoking appears to give 'benefits' on a raw food forum :-)

healthy bun:

<<Has anybody else heard that if you eat a meal that's acidic, like cooked food, and then smoke afterwards will temporary higher the pH in your blood and then make a feeling of wellbeing and "it tastes good>>>

maybe doghouse reilly and debbie understood your question
but i don't have a CLUE as to what your question was

WHAT is the question exactly?

i couldn't follow at all

are you asking if

1. smoking after eating a cooked meal will give you a high?
in my head cooked and acidic is generally the same

2. what does this have to do with raw?

3. if the pH number moves higher, you are becoming MORE acidic

4. are you just simply asking if stimulants in general will give you a high?

i suppose the answer is yes and that is why the bulk of the world is addicted to stimulants

cuz it gives a temporary high

i never smoked but i'm just assuming that people have a reason for smoking

and if they didn't get high, they wouldn't be risking cancer to do it

i am assuming that people will smoke to get a high with or without eating a cooked meal

and irregardless of the pH of the meal itself

but generally if someone is smoking, they are not too concerned as to whether or not their food ( or blood for that matter) is alkaline or acidic

if they did, they wouldn't be smoking

Hi la_veronique!

When you take a cigarette, your body WILL increase it's pH-blood, but only for a very short time. This will make the body "feel good" and you like to smoke after meals that's acidforming.

2. raw food will make smoking after meals less appealing, what I hear.

Do you understand?

LaV,

3. if the pH number moves higher, you are becoming MORE acidic

It's the other way round. Lower pH: more acidic, higher: more alkaline

How do you figure?

Re: Smoke after meals

Because of the way a stimulant works. A stimulant is something that is toxic to the system. The stimulant effect occurs when the body goes on 'red alert', 'all systems go' to cope with the invader. A feeling of energy will result - a 'high'.

And, smoking specifically, from Natural Hygiene (rawfoodexplained.com):

'The ingestion of nicotine induces a bodily response to rid itself of this poison. Thus, the body is stimulated and more catecholamines are released than would normally be the case. Heart rate increases and blood flow through the heart is also increased.'

(but the principle holds for any stimulant).

'Healthybun' - if you are smoking (and apologies if I've misunderstood, but that's how it came over from your first message, but realise it could have been an academic enquiry!), please stop. It's 'page one'. If you're smoking, eating raw food will be a p*** in the ocean compared with the effects of nicotine on your body.

There will always be arguments in favour of smoking. Most poisons, bar those that kill you in an hour, give some seemingly positive effects, and that's what deceives people into continuing with them.

Everybody

Why I'm interested in the subject is that I want to help others, no other reason. Ok? =) Smoking disgust me, so I don't want to disgust my friends...

*feels like everybody thinks I'm some kind of destructive person*

What do you hate more:

80%-100% cooked food vs. smoking cigarettes

If the choice is between eating 80%-100% cooked foods without smoking cigs or being all raw and smoking cigs then I guess I would take the 80%-100% cooked foods without any cigs and start working on increasing my % of raw foods until I was at 100% all fresh raw foods while continuing not to have cigs

I seriously doubt that smoking anything helps anything, except the growth of cancer cells. Good grief. Next: mainlining heroin ameliorates the effect of cheeseburgers. :\

Light a candle in the darkness, not a cigarette.

Sorry, that's baloney.

Sexual arousal works the exact same way, is sexual arousal "toxic".

Garlic is not "toxic", cayenne is not toxic, having fun & dancing is not toxic. Natural hygienism is the new Puritanism.
