My oldest son was conceived after a Rush concert that I went to (which was AMAZING, BTW) -- he's very proud of that fact!

Raw1228,

I cannot listen to Rush, as I am not an engineer smiling smiley There's a funny video of Geddy Lee off of Rick Mercer. I'll try to find it.

Christmas music has such lovely soft overtones.
Anyone here an audiophile?

That word means someone who appreciates a good audio setup with good speakers that reproduce every nuance of music...........

Yeah! Jonathan and I light incense and listen to ambient/world/new age music faithfully just about every night.

My husband is. he's blind, so he's extra-sensitive to the nuances of the stereo set-up.

Oh, yeah!! One day I will (again) have my perfect system -- I don't know what that is, though, because it's been 25 years since I've shopped for stereo equipment.

Oh yeah !!.. only problem is, I had a chance to listen to this setup in an audio shop one time, the speakers were 30 K a piece and the rest of it was in line with that. The sound was so clear, that nothing has seemed the same since. I still enjoy my stereo, but I know how good it could be smiling smiley

The best sound I still think comes out of a tube set.
You can still find old fisher 500 c models if you look and they are
bad to the bone. Sound quality took a dive when it went away from tube.
digital sound flunks in my opion, And then there was the (Wall of Sound)
Greatful Dead. I have two high tec hearing aids now. and they are not cutting
it, wacth the decibles kids hearing lose nerve damage. know damaging levels.
just had an idea, tube hearing aids.

Cool!
Tube hearing aids would be pretty bulky.
I agree.....tubes sound better, especially in the critical midrange vocal frequencies are,and where most music is heard.
My father has an old Knight brand amp....20 watts. From about 1962.
It still works once you let her heat up.
Modern tube equipment runs about $700 for a good basic amp.
Much more than the $99 100 watt recievers you can get now.
