u'd think they could just leave her alone she is pregnant too just cuz she is endangered doesn't mean they are gonna help anything by dragging her out it'll probably kill her babies due to stress hormones Re: whatdyall think.. is this 771 lb stingray for real?

i think stingrays are the most INCREDIBLE !!!!! creatures they are so graceful like a gigantic 771 lb eucharistic bread that is curled at the edges just WAFFFFTTTING through the electric blue waters i am also wondering how they could not have gotten stung and really, dragging a PREGNANT female out of her natural environment like that just to do a bit o "tagging' sheeesh! have some respect sorry to be this way i just feel that certain things ought to be left alone admire them if u must but please especially if they are pregnant do NOT drag the out of the ocean like that ESPECIALLy if they are 771 lbs and have a STINGERRRR!! this is why i find this photo above kind of suspicious but anyhow the cool thing is that it stirred up my imagination and made me unbelievably happy and in wonderment knowing that such fabulous mysterious creatures do exist Re: whatdyall think.. is this 771 lb stingray for real?

Date: February 26, 2009 03:06PM I found the whole tone of the story unsettling; very humans vs. nature: enumerating the number of men required to haul her aboard against the cited weight of the poor creature, while making it sound so noble an effort. It's like we can't even go through the motions of trying to "conserve" these creatures without demonstrating our rough dominion over them. "We have to do it this way because it's, well, the only[easy] way--aren't we wonderful for wanting to go through all this trouble to help?" How about just letting everyone in Southeast Asia know on the public radio bands that, if you see a very large stingray and hurt or kill it, the fine is death or long imprisonment--in Laos? I think that would be far less intrusive and more effective than manhandling the stingray and her offspring into a state of shock. I mean, who decides what price is too low or too high to pay? No one asked me, and I care about Nature! Re: whatdyall think.. is this 771 lb stingray for real?

Date: February 27, 2009 01:53AM I hate all those people who "love" the outdoors and "love" to go fishing, and proudly display pictures of themselves holding all the creatures they've killed by hooks.
Oh, they are so proud of what they've done. Real HE-men. Puke. Re: whatdyall think.. is this 771 lb stingray for real?
