i love failing
Posted by: la_veronique ()
Date: March 19, 2009 08:33AM

at most things
at any thing
its fun
making as many mistakes as possible

and then the more mistakes i accumulate
the more i see ( in retrospect)
that all those steps enabled me to reach my goal

then i make another goal
then i make a lot of mistakes and fail my way to that one too

its getting to be a fun game with me
i'm not as afraid anymore

its expected
and i'm having a BLAAAAAAAAST!!!!

YEEEHAWWWWWW!!!!

can't wait to fail some MORE!!!

this is my modus operandi
it always does seem to work

that's the only way i get anything done

just accepting it more and more lately
cuz its good to lighten up

What a great attitude, LaV!!! I'm going to try it because this "Doggone it, I messed up again and I should know better, what's with me, anyway" attitude just isn't cutting it! I'm annoying the sh*t out of myself!!!

I'm not sure 'fun' is the best choice of
words. That tells me you make mistakes on purpose.
What is fun for me is to walk my Path without making
mistakes. It builds Strength and Character. Plus, when
people notice I'm doing something different, it speaks
to them without my having to say a word...WY

WY
I am humbled in your presense smiling smiley. I think I understand your meaning if you are refering to just observing everything that one does as perfect anyway, but I totaly get what LaV is talking about with the idea that the way towards ones goals is always mysterious, and doesn't usually fit with how I think that it "should" be.

When I read your great post LaV, it made me think of when I play putt putt with the kids. I used to try so hard to get that ball in the hole with the least amount of tries. After the kids came along and got bigger, I didn't have time to really play AND make sure the kids were all relatively close and not climbing structures. So I started just hitting the balls wildly until I either hit them in or just eventually shoved them in with my foot.

I discovered that I had more fun that way.

Not trying to succeed IS much more fun!!! It is liberating.

Thanks for reminding me!!!

LaV--
Sounds like you are mastering the art of making life playful. Watch how little kids have fun playing. They fall down, they spill their food, they knock the blocks over, they mess things up over and over again, and they have a BLAST doing it! We should be more like that... oops!, cancel the 'should'. We can be like that too. ;-)

yeah, play is key

and also, i do agree that it is very humbling to make mistakes

especially if it involves business ( LOTS of money seemingly gets "wasted" ) when a company goes bankrupt not to mention the loads of pain and heartache from having to lay off a zillion workers

irregardless of what WY says and in regards to (for example): business, I doubt that responsible people make mistakes on "purpose" ( unless they are uber rich)

in regards to relationships, people take risks and chances all the time and do one's best to maintain a relationship that one feels is worthwhile but no one is perfect

the fact of the matter is that no one can predict the future

but if one does one's very best and is not afraid of trying again and again

this will inevitably bring about the BEST chance for success

sure it can be painful as well but what is more painful is to stop trying altogether or to stop seeking other ventures all together and just give up

remember: babe ruth had the record ( at the time) for the most strike outs
then he got the record for the most home runs

this is what i'm talking about

WY: you must have been talking about yourself in regards to being irresponsible, and egregiously cavalier when it comes to making mistakes because i've never met
you

I misunderstood you LaV. If you're trying to
do well (like Babe Ruth at bat...he didn't try very hard
when it came to his physical appearance), and still make
mistakes, that's one thing. But if you're not trying, and
make mistakes, that's another thing.

Yes I was. I'd never criticize another person.
(That's the plan anyway). May we all try a little harder to
do what we know to do...WY

I guess if you turn my story around, I wasn't really failing, because my priority (main job) is to be responsible for the kids and not to win at putt putt. LOL!

It still changed my attitude about not doing my best at a something, which was hard for me to get past and I actually learned to enjoy it.

The kids have made me such a happier me in so many ways.

I think that making mistakes is actually just a point of view, not a result. Just like the quote from Thomas Edison points out, if you choose to see it differently, it is all just part of the path of success.

you're right

it is a point of view

you would never call a baby who is trying to walk as "failing" every time he falls down

you would simply say that the baby is having a blast trying to do something new

in the same way, we are all babies when it comes to new and difficult tasks

and we are all learning to still walk in many different respects
