Subtle Perception Shift for Quiet Contemplation
By Tom Russell

Subtle Shift: "An anguish, quirk or inner obstacle is not really inside a head, but resides within the vast shared complex of race beliefs called the human mind."

Spiritual awareness writers have often used the metaphor of a radio. The broadcast does not originate inside the box. The radio simply receives a given program by tuning in.

The metaphor of the computer simulation expands on this. The Matrix film focuses on "unplugging." This is an ideal way to describe the act of awakening. We wake up to the actual content of the hypnotic signal now being received. I especially like how The Matrix depicts awakening, not as a new agey event of peace and love, but of shocking reality.

This shift reveals the futility of trying to heal an autonomous self with its own unique set of problems. Consider any anguish or inner obstacle. These "radio programs" or "computer simulations" exist inside a vast human mind complex - the racial "brain" so to speak. Agitations and torments cling to you and seem to be manufactured by you, but prior to awakening you serve as nothing more than a mechanism to receive and express them. Thousands of other radios receive at this very instant the same programs you seem to suffer from.

So how does one unplug? Go much more deeply into contemplation. For example, let this shift serve as a catalyst. Sit quietly with it and perhaps have pen and paper nearby to jot down connections that come to mind. We look around for the next book or wise person to hear, rarely allowing the quietness and energy of the inner world to reveal Truths by direct connection.
