Last one occurred 456 years ago! "While it is merely a coincidence that the eclipse falls on the same date as this year's winter solstice, for eclipse watchers this means that the moon will appear very high in the night sky, as the solstice marks the time when the Earth's axial tilt is farthest away from the sun." Date: December 20, 2010 08:21PM I think its unlikely I will be able to see it:/... still rather cloudy and rainy outside here! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh, mirror in the sky What is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? Re: Unusual Lunar Eclipse on the Winter Solstice

Date: December 20, 2010 09:59PM Would clouds really obscure it? It's supposed to make the Moon bright orange or red at some point! Way cool if I can wake up to see it! I believe in astrology and how we are affected by these things. I think it's significant that this hasn't occurred in centuries, given the state of the world as it is at the moment. For those who honor it, Happy Solstice! Re: Unusual Lunar Eclipse on the Winter Solstice

Date: December 21, 2010 08:46PM I was very excited to see it that I actually woke up at 3 am but it was too cloudy so I couldn't see anything...I believe that this means something. The last time a lunar eclipse occurred on a Winter Solstice was over 400 years ago so there were generations of people who never saw it during their lifetimes...Pretty cewl if you ask me!
