Date: July 20, 2011 09:23PM Not a bad deal! Technically it only lasts as long as the batteries last and maximum charge is for 3 hours. Where I live, I'm not exactly sure if I could get enough sunlight to charge the thing. Re: Solar lamp, I'm getting one.

Date: July 20, 2011 09:43PM Even in winter the solar lamps that line our outside walkway get enough sun to light up well into the night, they've been out there for 6 months and still going strong too (cost about $2 each, cheapo Filipo!). Can't the batteries in those things be replaced? Can't see why not... Re: Solar lamp, I'm getting one.

Date: July 20, 2011 10:05PM Good idea to buy two--being Ikea, one will topple over immediately upon being assembled and break irreparably in two
I think it would be great if more common household items were made for solar use, however, I always worry that a concession must be made somewhere in the design process, as with this product--most of the body is plastic[sigh]. Re: Solar lamp, I'm getting one.

Work the same as my landscape lights. Not totally free cause you have to buy batteries. Vinny Re: Solar lamp, I'm getting one.

Date: July 21, 2011 09:15PM If I had the space and technical know-how I'd figure out a way to hook everything up to a stationary bike. It would need to have energy storage capability though, can't ride a bike and sew a dress at the same time I'm afraid! Re: Solar lamp, I'm getting one.
