Everyone keeps mentioning Norway.

I think it'd be interesting to visit Norway, especiially the Essene Caves! How exciting would that be to see.

One of my favorite books- A Time for Trolls "Fairy Tales from Norway" told by Asbjornsen and Moe. (translated by Joan Roll-Hansen) Great book!

Apparently they're having a butter shortage.

I thought the Essene Caves were in Israel? confused smiley

I watch this Norwegian cooking show on PBS--New Scan Cooking--lots of things which we don't eat, so I turn off that part of me brain while viewing, but my God, the vistas! The chef/host goes to all these little towns in the fiords and valleys around them to cook the microregional dishes, and half of each episode is just glorious panorama footage of sea and green fields and snow cover mountain. Breathtaking!

They may have found them there, but weren't those the dead sea scrolls?
I saw one show from Finland I think. A beautiful blond woman. She made this scallion topping on some really flat type of bread. It looked delicious. I wish I'd caught her name.

It's such a cute and fun book banana who.

rawalice,

It might have been Tina Nordstrom[why can't I do umlauts anymore, stupid keyboard?!]; she's Swedish and loves making things with fruits--yummy!

Why do you keep hearing about Norway? I haven't heard a thing about it.

Thanks Tamukha, but I don't think that's her. It was like a fresh scallion mixture on what looked like some kind of yellowish flat thing. That sounds like it'd translate to raw foods pretty well. I wonder if cornmeal is heated at all.

rawalice,

Cornmeal has to be heated to be digestible by humans; I think the ancient Inca fermented it somehow, but this idea is lost to the sands of time, er, the Andes. I have made lovely corn puddin' and coarse polenta-like things with very finely ground fresh raw corn kernels from farm stand corn. In retrospect, a lot of trouble, but if you are craving corn pone or jonnycake, experimenting can be interesting smiling smiley

Now I'm going to wonder who that chef was, darn it . . . Finnish, you say? Off to the Intertubes!

Maybe it was her. I only caught one show. She was outside making her stuff too. Oh well.
