Unconfirmed, I don't mean to put the scare into ya just thought we could watch together and update as info trickles in. I just bought some more iodine yesterday, good timing!

Coco,
Thank you for the update. I feel bad for the people in the immediate area having to be uprooted. Secondary for people where ever the fallout might happen. That would be perhaps all of the world, but I guess people in N. America would get a dose.

I am not sure why, but I don't feel particularly afraid for myself. I guess its because of the program I am in enrolled in. Its made me aware of just how much radiation people receive even under the best conditions. Its so amazing to me that radiation has been with all forms of life for millions of years. Its actually accredited with powering evolution. Natural sources are perhaps different in some way? Science hasn't been able to completely differentiate between a cosmic ray and an xray for example. Radioactive elements are in our food, and actually present in prehistory in the form of carbon and potassium. That is what makes radiodating possible. I was like oh yeah....when I read that. Additional doses above the natural sources however you definately want to keep as low as possible. I don't know how dangerous the dosing might be for people beyond a few hundred miles away.

Does she have a supply of nonradioactive iodine? I can see how that could be a concern. I hope she does what she can to protect herself.

I sent her some when it first happened but I can't be sure she'll take it. All I can do is hope. And bug her, lol.

Now I regret telling her not to come home for the hols. I suggested she might as well stay there until she's ready to come back for a longer stay instead of flying here then back then here again. I'll message her about taking the iodine, I hope she has been...

Hello three have aleady vaporized and the west coast was first land fall.
Do you feel safer here on the west coast of the Americas? We are first in line for anything going out of Japan.
Bottom line one water one air one land. and lots of nukes vaporized on our planet mostly in the state of Nevada! Test site MERCURY, HOTTEST SPOT ON THE PLANET RIGHT HERE IN OUR BACK YARD, MORE TEST BELOW AND ABOVE GROUND THAN ANYWHERE ON EARTH, Japan is small compared to what has been released from Mercury over the decades.
and there is this other nuke plant in Japan non water cooled, anyone know whats going on with it, ???

I remember the first time I learned about radioactivity I found it just so very scary. I think I must have been around 10. I think it was because its so unlike any other form of harm most of us are familiar with. I also remember having such high levels of anxiety as a child and young teenager over the cold war era. People were under constant fear of being bombed by the other major force in the world.

I have such resentment over that. I could never relax, but some people said they weren't going to fret or fear until something actually happened. I never understood how they could not let it bother them.

they say 90% or more of all cancer today is a result of nuclear testing (using)

sad indeed

I am reading Nevil Shute's On the Beach right now. It's such an odd sensation to know how little has changed since it was published in 1957.

thing is it is not fiction (self fulfilling prophecy?) this is reality and we are glad we know that we are protecting our-selfs as we learn how yes? Fresh ride organic fruit and veg

I'm wondering if saltwater has any effect on radiation.

Saltwater? like what type of effect? With my limited knowledge, it seems like it wouldn't do much except maybe thin it down, depending on the volume. I don' think it would neutralize it if thats what you are thinking.

If I may link to another forum, this is literally the ultimate vein of all information concerning the truth of what is going on at Fukushima. There are all kinds of minds, brilliant beyond my comprehension, analyzing all sorts of technical data. There are seawater contamination maps, jetstream readings, and tons of awesome people to just talk to for support.

Other good sources for info are:

[fukushima-diary.com]

[ex-skf.blogspot.com]

Nothing will change, IMHO, without acknowledging the magnitude of the problem.

As of April 16th, fallout from the accident traveled to the Southern Hemisphere. There is nowhere to run. There are places in North America that get readings several times above the evacuation limits at Chernobyl, *every single time it rains.* This is an ongoing, 24/7/365 global crisis. You can watch as data is independently monitored about background radiation levels: cold shutdown is a terrible lie, there were two FEROCIOUS spikes of radiation that circled the globe just in the first week of January alone, all directly related to Fukushima. Monitoring sites all over North America, completely unrelated to each other, picked up identical rad spikes...

BUT BUT BUT (without sounding too scary), knowledge is POWER. The more you learn, the more you can make informed choices to protect yourself!

As raw foodies, everyone should really be okay already. Diet is SO powerful, it is your empowering source of protection. It is integral to survival to learn the differences between internal and external radiation.

Daniel Vitalis has some awesome Youtube videoes about the detoxifying powers of bentonite clay and how it wipes radionuclides from the body.

Sodium alginate, in seaweed, can specifically bind and escort radionuclides post-ingestion from the body. Yes, this is the most terrifying nuclear disater in recorded history (excluding the Mahabarata...). It takes ONE particle of plutonium, inhaled, to potentially cause cancer... But **SEAWEED** has the power to bind and remove it from your body!!!! (Just don't eat seaweed from Japan.) Flax seeds, apple pectin, so many MIRACULOUS foods and things we can do to protect ourselves, and our children.

Knowledge is power and life is yours for the taking, don't let anyone else take it from you.

Finally, there is a solution, we can all come up with one together... but that does require a brutally honest assessment. The truth is painful. But I pray to god this is just humanity taking one nasty fall on the bicycle of technology, soon to rise up with scraped knees, and armed with knowledge and experience to make a more evolved decision concerning our future.

I'm praying hard for this one. And sharing knowledge with love and intentions of self-empowerment, protection, and survival.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone actually rubbed that poor seal with some bunk tuberculosis and made up that crap. It's going around bigtime. Not to poopoo the radiatian, but, I've seen healthy looking people positively glowing green with it. We are made of thought and energy as well as our flesh bodies. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Hmm, I think I'll take Phantom's advice on this one. Thanks for the educated info honey, there's so much nonsense going around ~ it's good to read something useful and informative for a change.

Atmospheric Nuclear Testing at the Nevada Test Site
Featured Gallery Media

Map It!

One hundred atmospheric nuclear tests were detonated at the Nevada Test Site (originally the Nevada Proving Grounds) between 1951 and 1963. The first Nevada series, code-named Ranger, was conducted during January and February 1951, immediately after President Harry S. Truman had approved the establishment of a continental test site in Nevada. The United States’ first post-World War II nuclear tests had been conducted in the Pacific. During the early years, testing schedules remained on a campaign basis, alternating between the Nevada Test Site (NTS) and the Pacific Proving Ground. Generally, larger tests were conducted in the Pacific—the highest-yield U.S. test was Bravo with fifteen megatons, detonated at Bikini Atoll, while the highest-yield test at the NTS was Hood, at seventy-four kilotons.
Test Site Mercury is just the very tip of our Nuclear insanity.
