Date: December 05, 2011 04:17PM Wow Jgunn, what a great link, thank you. I thought that was very interesting and thought provoking. That movie raises a lot of questions. So, you wonder where they get their info. Is this a confession of sorts? Haha, just kidding.
Their was this article on yahoo homepage this morning about the big corporations who were the most generous to charity. I thought, how nice, but then they didn't say what charities they were supporting. Big question mark there. Raw food domination! Please oh please go ahead and electrify/nuclear medicine our world to our collective doom, but please will they just legalize pot? (Okay, not really on the nuclear medicine.) Will see if I can find this vid elsewhere. Unless that evil Destroy-The-Free-Internet legislation passed sometime in the last few days when I wasn't paying attention, in which case, this vid and thousands like it, are lost to us peons for good. [sigh] Re: movies im watching lately

Date: December 07, 2011 12:26AM I recently discovered HUlu. When I needed a study break I watched Tales of the City. It was the first time I watched it in clear digital. Its soooo great, sometimes makes me want to cry. Just because I miss the vitality and freedom of the 70's. Its set in SF, so be prepared for some adult topics and situations.
[www.hulu.com] I think you will be immediately drawn into the film. If you like the 70's and free spirited SF of the time period I also watched an Alice in wonder land film from 1973, goofy. Re: movies im watching lately

Date: December 08, 2011 05:19AM the best movies I've seen lately were Warrior (2011) and Shaolin (2011).
Did you watch the Thrive. I made it to global domination before I cut out. Anyone care to sum up that part for me? Re: movies im watching lately

Date: December 09, 2011 01:55AM I got sucked into that one quickly, very interesting and surprising. I never thought of the implications of 'zero' size, and thinness. I think I have been insensitive to how much more women are given concerns over look and style. I never believed that it was any different for men, but its different. Its still there, but a matter of degree, and also there isn't a message of 'zero' in clothing sizes. As far as I can remember every male I knew generally wanted to be taller, larger, have more muscle. Being fat or soft is discouraged, but I can see now how its probably considerably more accepted for men. Re: movies im watching lately

Date: December 10, 2011 01:10AM Gads, I stayed later for class this evening catching up on some demonstrations, but while waiting I over heard a few women in the class talking. Mostly about their family, children and boyfriends. But the topic of weight and dieting came up. Someone suggested having competitive weight loss, and they wanted to put a pool together for a prize for the person who lost the most weight.
The women seemed pumped, thinking that was a good idea. Me and another guy there just looked at each other dumbfounded. He said that none of the women there needed to loose weight at all. I would agree. Neither of us were interested in participating. I guess its not so surprising but woman who was actually the thinnest was the most concerned about loosing weight. She was also the most fashion conscious. Another woman justifed her interest and validated it and defended it saying that she wanted and needed to maintain how thin she was. My male lab partner just was beside himself and maintained that she didn't need to loose any weight. I thought for a moment of suggesting this video, but I just thought at the moment that wouldn't be appropriate. Re: movies im watching lately

When I think of my daughter out in this world, all the influences and pressures on her that I'm not able to protect her from... scary. My son too, what he thinks about women, will it be defined by popular culture? I mean, I do think I have some part to play in it but really, I am only a fraction of their day. The have teachers at school who do the whole hair-makeup-high heels thing, peers, an endless bombardment of advertising. It's everywhere, even in public toilets these days (and private toilets too if you subscribe to magazines or newspapers). It's simply everywhere in every corner, nook and cranny of our world. How much does what I teach them offset the rest of it? Sigh. Re: movies im watching lately

Date: December 17, 2011 05:37AM I know. I'm tempted to watch it over and over again. When they rip their pants off and all their junk is bouncing around in those skimpy little man-panties I just start howling with uncontrollable laughter. My Gawd, that is so funny. Re: movies im watching lately
