Date: February 12, 2012 09:28PM Some may be too old or young to appreciate her star power in her heyday, but I remember when she burst onto the scene in the mid-80s when I was in my late teens. Interestingly, I remember her before she was a singer when she was a model for Seventeen Magazine! [media.tumblr.com] Re: RIP Whitney Houston

Date: February 16, 2012 01:56PM A little side story. "I will always love you" was originally written and performed by Dolly Parton. Elvis Presley heard the song and wanted to cover it. Dolly was excited but when they met Elvis insisted that if he covered it that Dolly had to sign the right to the song over to him. Elvis was such a control freak he wanted to own everything he sang to the extent he could. Dolly refused and Elvis never covered the song. But it was Dolly's refusal that enabled Whitney to cover it for the Bodyguard (1991 I believe, Kevin Costner). I respect Dolly for her unwilliness to get bowled over by Elvis and stand by her principles.

Date: March 03, 2012 01:34PM It's been reported a combination of drugs and alcohol.
I'm very sad for her family and everything but I never liked her music and it's driving me crazy to hear it played so much right now. I get away from it as quickly as possible, they're the sort of songs that get stuck in your head all day... Re: RIP Whitney Houston

Date: March 24, 2012 02:08AM I think they call it tortured artist syndrome. You play with pharmies and drink, well thats nothing but stoned stupid. One thing for sure these celeb folks are worth more dead than alive.
