Date: November 14, 2012 10:30PM Sorry, no advice. I did put up some quince this year though (cooked as it's unbearably tart raw & unsweetened). The woman who has the tree said quince is often used for grafting pears and there was one branch of pear on their tree. All the branches were grafted pears at one point but they didn't take and out came nearly all quince. Interesting, that. Re: Anyone have any advice on pruning a quince tree?

Date: November 15, 2012 12:55AM That is interesting. I have a pretty good idea of how to go about it, but I am nervous about doing this. I guess I was hoping there might be an expert or two in our midst. The farm is on the historic register and the tree has been there for a long time. It gets discussed in the journals of people who lived there in the 19th century. I'd hate to somehow kill it. It looks like I'm really going to have to give it a serious haircut and hope that it does its job and grows back. But hey, it's been there for decades. It can probably survive my pruning efforts. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
