Date: October 27, 2013 04:19PM Wow! Thanks for posting this! So exciting. I like how he says it is not just philanthropy but done for profit. There is nothing wrong with making money doing positive things!  And it's getting the residents to care more about their environment, which is another great by-product.
On the West Side of Chicago I see large parcels of land that are the same as described in this article. From the train it almost looks like farmland but is so sparse that it would need some serious work. I was thinking along the same lines: get someone to buy these parcels and develop them into greenery. It's better than yet another strip mall or condo.
