Do you check out movies from the library or maybe rent them online? I have been getting into Mike Leigh. He is a writer/director and one of his most notable movies recently was "Vera Drake." I have also seen "Secrets and Lies," "Happy Go Lucky," "Another Year," "All or Nothing" and just saw "Naked."

I also saw a very old horror movie from 1932 called "Freaks," with real side-show characters.

What about you?

i'd like to see some older movies

like black and white movies ( cuz i know they can't rely on special effects, explosions, etc. they actually have to have a STORY... to pull it off)

just don't know which ones are good

i don't remember any ... maybe i saw some tidbits but just don't know what it was

sorry

wait... i saw "grapes of wrath" (based on john steinbeck's book)

but not the entire thing

a while ago

made me want to read the book

I recently saw "Stargate" with James Spader and Kurt Russell. I watched it because I heard that it had a lot of themes and imagery (pyramids, all seeing eye, mass slavery, etc.) that conspiracy theorists talk about it. It definitely came through with that but was not a great movie.

Was Meg Ryan in "Stargate?" Man, I think I saw that back in the '80s.

I am looking for some old-fashioned monster movies, too! I like high-brow, low-brow and no-brow. I love B-movies, too.

Speaking of wormholes, I recently saw Donnie Darko with Jake Gyllenhall.
