Who wants doctors to "treat" people with poison and/or lop off parts of their bodies? Re: Swedes increasingly purchase private health insurance

"The Nordic model, known for high taxes and its cradle-to-grave welfare system, is getting a radical makeover as nations find themselves cash-strapped." [www.thelocal.se] Re: Swedes increasingly purchase private health insurance

Date: January 22, 2014 10:26PM Interesting, but it looks like the scaling back of social welfare programs in Sweden may end soon -
"Although polls show strong support among Swedes for the income tax cuts of the past few years, the leftist opposition looks set to win this year's general election. The Social Democrats, in power for much of last century, have been boosted by a string of scandals in private elderly care homes involving degrading treatment of their residents, and by plummeting school results in international rankings. Because "The Right" is being blamed for the universal healthcare failure and other problems - "Then came globalization and an ideological shift to the right has led to a scaling back of the public sector. In Sweden, visitors are sometimes surprised to learn about year-long waiting times for cancer patients, rioting in low-income neighbourhoods and train derailments amid lagging infrastructure investment." ******************** It looks like This Administration wants to be Number One in increased Welfare Spending - Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall, Which Nation Has Increased Welfare Spending the Fastest of All? [www.cato.org] The United States expanded the welfare state faster than almost every European nation. Here’s another map, but I’ve included North America and pulled out the figures for the countries that suffered the biggest increases in welfare spending. As you can see, only Ireland and Portugal were more profligate than the United States. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 01/22/2014 10:29PM by KidRaw.
