I think it was called just that, Global Dimming. But it was a while ago so I could be wrong. Scary scary scary. I liked "The Story Of Stuff" MUCH better!

It's very good Jodi....just a little long. I won't
be buying any Monsanto stock (nyse:MON), after seeing what they do
to the little farmer. Seems they want it all.....WY

"Bigfoot...Man or Beast."
I have always been fascinated by bigfoot.
Hope they catch one someday.

I watched Future of Food a few weeks ago...pretty messed up stuff.

Meet Your Meat...nasty.

Supermarket Secrets...pretty interesting and disturbing.

I also recently watched The Last Beekeeper. That is another concerning one. Even though there are lots of folks that don't agree with beekeeping...bees are responsible for over 1/3 of the worlds fruits and vegetables. Not sure the exact figure but I know that kept bees account for them majority of bees in this country.

There are a few other bee related documentaries that I would really like to see but cannot find them on the internet to watch so if anyone runs across anything please post a link. Here is a link to a free movie site that has a bunch of documentaries if anyone is interested.

I saw a recent one but don't remember the name. It was about a small village in France where they started to eat local, fresh food. It was a bummer to think that France had gone the SAD route.

I saw a wonderful documentary called "A Small Act"

WOW, that was so amazing, how one woman made such an impact on so many people with one simple thing, it reminds me so much that everything we do has the power to change people's lives in ways we can't even imagine.

Here is the trailer - you must track this movie down if you get the chance:

Such an incredible co-incidence that a woman who escaped from the nightmare of the Holocaust in Germany would have created the conditions for that young Kenyan man - totally by co-incidence - to become a person whose job it is to find solutions to stop genocide in the world. I bet in her wildest imagination she could not have dreamt up a better outcome!

Can you imagine having an organization to help people launched somewhere on the other side of the world and named after you, and you didn't even know about it? (she found out later) What a story! What a beautiful way to honor her!

I watched a vitamin D lecture:

It was interesting to me since when I first had my vitamin d measured it was in severe ricketts range. sad smiley

I watched fathead:

It's a rather amusing argument in favor of Atkins and Weston-Price style diets, but he does bring up some rather interesting points.

I just watched "When You're Strange" which is about the Doors, specifically Jim Morrison. It just came out this year and it blew my mind because it had all this footage from a movie he was filming so I got a chance to see him in a different context. It was wild. He was my favorite performer when I was a teenager (athough already dead for over a decade by then).

I watched a program about E.O. Wilson and his work in Sociobiology. It was on PBS Nova. Excellent program. The poor man received so much trouble from his work. There were protesters who appeared at lectures, and one even poured a bucket of ice water on him.
[en.wikipedia.org]

I was especially fascinated by his work on one genus of Ants. He did so much work. He said if he had it to do again, he would have studied microbes. So little is known about microbes, and that is actually what makes up the bulk of life on earth. As far as ecology goes, he said that was kind like a medical doctor making diagnosis and only knowing a small percent of the organs in the body.

Well, his work is much more accepted now, and with some modifications of his theory, he seems to have won over the majority of scientists working in the field. However, the rest of humanity might still have a problem with the theory.

He was influential in establishing the Encyclopedia of Life, which attempts to document and make available information about every species known on earth.

Something I find way cool!

I've got an apartment in the city for Nov so maybe I can actually watch some of these if I can get a good internet connection. I'm totally excited to see all these gems for myself!

I just watched Food Inc. It focuses on the meat and poultry industries (although there is some info on corn and soy) and is probably not very enlightening to savvy raw eaters, but it might be eye-opening to some of your friends or family. Different presentations of the same info appeal to different people.

This is some scary business but it all makes sense.

Changes in soil due to this spraying makes it impossible to grow organic food. Farmers are forced to buy GMO seeds, they are the only thing capable of growing properly. I'm feeling the conspiracy...
