I could NOT resist posting this commercial
Posted by: banana who ()

Yes it's technically political but for once, I don't care about issues. It's just the actual hilarity of the commercial itself. Enjoy:

I thought that was a joke! This is a real thing? Wow, what a circus politics has become. I mean the kind with clowns and ridiculousness... weird.

Good find banana who! Read about it first on the Raw Food Forum.

Here's another article on the video:

I assumed it was a joke. That they do not see how very, very bad the optics of this ad are is very, very puzzling.

And most people probably won't notice, y'all.

Wow, thanks Suncloud! Until this moment I still wasn't sure if it was a spoof or not. And then another poll showing Cain in the lead. Crazy like a fox? I found your article interesting in that they mention that Cain supported the tobacco industry and so perhaps this ad is a poke in the eye of any regulations? It is unbelievable in any case...

Banana who,
Does one have to be a supporter already to understand the veiled message? I know very little about the candidate, and the commercial has close to zero substance. Is there actually anyone that believes in dividing the country? Maybe some people do, but that doesn't sound like a winning message. It sounds good, but nothing about how its doing to be done. I also don't believe that one person can possibly represent all interests of everyone.

The inclusion of smoking is on purpose? I suppose it is, as it could have been easily edited out.

I KNOW! People are starting to talk about it here, there is general consensus (among those I am in touch with anyhow) that it's a bit wacko banana pants. Of course there are red necks here who support it in a knee-jerk sort of way but they are (hopefully, fingers crossed) fringe.

banana who,

Just watched the other ad HC has up, featuring a cowboy carrying yellow flowers, and am considering running into a wall to expunge it from my short term memory. Wacko banana pants to the third power!

Aw, Herman Cain looked cute smiling at the end of the commercials. He's so friendly and likable. Too bad he's a warmonger like the rest.

In that commercial, the man talking was nodding his head "no", as if what he was saying was a complete lie.

KidRaw,

Appeal to False Authority: The investigator is not personally aware of the particulars of any case against Cain, so his opinion is hardly relevant.

Please remember that Cain claimed a couple of weeks ago to not recall complaints against him, so his not showing the demeanor of someone who believes himself in the wrong is not surprising. Someone who barely recalls something that happened a decade and a half ago wouldn't; ask any lie detector test administerer. On the other hand, Cain's evident glibness on Kimmel when discussing the charges indicates that, even if he now recalls everything about the complaints, he feels that the complaints themselves are no big deal and that the women bringing them do not matter.

I can tell you as a trained cook who was encouraged in school to consider National Restaurant Association membership for professional benefits, the NRA is one of the most fiscally conservative professional organizations and would not settle a sexual harassment lawsuit if there was the slightest possibility of not having to.

coco,

That cartoon is a poignant statement on hubris. Or something smiling smiley

Tee hee.

Straight from the comments section of that CBSAtlanta video

"Please note that the expert used an incorrect setting in his analysis. Look right above the results and notice that he selected "Male" when analyzing a female voice. Like any software, Garbage IN, Garbage OUT, no matter how much it cost. And I'm not sure how this got missed by the news editor or journalists."

coco,

If you read further on the Comments, it says -

"If you are looking at the screen and noticing that the word "male" is selected, it won't help you discredit this analysis. That is simply an identification option if the operator wishes to store the file and identify the subject in the stored data file. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the results of the analysis. Sorry to dash your hopes, but this software is extremely reliable. If it says she is lying and he is not, then you can be sure that she is lying and he is not."

Another Appeal to False Authority, this time some anonymous poster on a local media website's uploaded video comments page. Can I cite my neighbor's dog's sniffing a photo of Cain as proof of Cain's innocence? eye rolling smiley

And don't forget that people can pass lie detector tests, also, especially if they are pathological liars and can lie straight to people's faces.

(For the record, the blonde here is Amy Jacobsen, a local Chicago reporter-cum-talk show host who witnessed Cain and Bialek (accuser gone public) of hugging last month at a Teacon convention outside Chicago. Jacobsen was falsely tagged in the media as Bialek because of this picture.)
