I remember the character in 'welcome back carter'. or kotter whatever it is. My friend met him in person. Its strange but all he wanted to talk about with him was how unfair it was that John Travolta was so handsome and got all the attention. He was a great guy. When I saw his photo I immediately remembered "horshack' and his cute voice. I remember, but he never knew how much people like him.

Vinnie, LOL! You and I must be around the same age. I am 46 and I think you are absolutely right--those who were preteens when "Welcome Back, Kotter" debuted remember that era of tv with fondness. I actually think that in terms of quality, the '70s were the golden age: "All in the Family," "Mary Tyler Moore," "Eight is Enough," "One Day at a Time," "Family," even "The Brady Bunch and "Good Times!" The '60s were great, too.

Everything has its heyday. I haven't watched tv in almost 3.5 years and I don't miss it--it's a wasteland, IMO. But particularly having grown up when I did and able to know the difference.

I am 48.
You got that right about tv being a wasteland, unless you can get interested in watching people being voted off of a competition,in all its myriad of forms.
Its all in the WRITING with those old shows. We were given a situation and charachters we could care about and want to tune into every week, back then.
Now ,whos cares about folks hangin out insulting each other, and making wise cracks about sex.Its all so shallow now.I did my bit in the high school locker room.been there done that.
