Has anyone ever done cranio-sacral massage?

Date: October 10, 2013 05:46PM I am thinking of trying it and I read about it and some said it has been debunked (it's been touted as helping autism, ADD and other things). I don't believe them but wanted first-hand experiences. Re: Has anyone ever done cranio-sacral massage?

Date: October 10, 2013 06:23PM BW, I practice CranioSacral Therapy and mostly use it for pain relief. John Harvey Kellogg (the black sheep of the Kellogg family) said that touch (no movement) is the most effect, least utilized technique for pain relief. It does help. The most amazing treatment I had using CST was with a woman who had severe scoliosis. After 4 sessions her spine was aligned! CST use the bones as levers to stretch the connective tissue that is connected to everything in the body, to search and release lines of tension, etc. It is very light touch work. Date: October 10, 2013 07:16PM Thanks! You are fully clothed during a session, right? I am also wondering if it can get rid of any tension that you are storing... Re: Has anyone ever done cranio-sacral massage?

I have never had one of the "regular" type and one thing is that I can't imagine being naked with a stranger! I don't know if that seems overly modest but it's just how I feel. So I wanted to know if it is done fully clothed. The information on it did not specify and Vermont does this for a living, I presume. Re: Has anyone ever done cranio-sacral massage?

Yes, one is fully clothed during a craniosacral session, and yes it does relax due to alpha brain wave activity. I often find practitioners in other locations by visiting: [www.upledger.com] I usually look for someone who has taken many workshops and has some experience. Date: October 25, 2013 02:18AM Yes, when I had Shingles starting last November. I went to an acupuncturist who I had seen before (about 15 years ago when I had a "frozen shoulder" as the result of a serious accident which gave me a compound fracture of the wrist). I had two surgeries (actually quite successful), but wearing a cast for a few months contributed to the frozen shoulder problem.
At any rate I thought she was going to do acupuncture for the shingles problem, but she did the cranio-sacral massage instead. (She had been certified for over 10 years since my last seeing her for cranio, and been a California licensed acupuncturist for over 20 years. A very expensive protocol($150 hour)& not in the least successful for my pain/symptom relief. I quit after the 5th session...and I can very well afford to pay for things that work. Date: October 25, 2013 03:59PM My session would only cost $40. Sounds like you got taken for a ride and besides, I would never expect healing with one treatment. Re: Has anyone ever done cranio-sacral massage?

Date: October 26, 2013 01:05AM Well I had five; I think that's adequate.
BTW, following this, I also had eight traditional acupuncture sessions over a month period, though with two different practitioners, though they practiced in the same office. Around the SF Bay Area, these usually run from $60 to $80 an hour session for the more experienced people. Cranio-sacral seems to be much more expensive around here as the number of people doing it is much smaller. And it's kind of trendy. Re: Has anyone ever done cranio-sacral massage?

Date: October 27, 2013 01:15AM one of my teachers at the Massage Therapy College was a cranio-sacral specialist.
My exhusband at the time got run over in a crosswalk by a van (I did not commission this ;D ) and I told him to start seeing 'Robert' He went to him weekly for 2 years and now 10 years later still sees him from time to time My ex has repeatedly thanked me for introducing him to this modality of healing. He says it saved his life. That speaks volumes to me ...Jodi, the banana eating buddhist Re: Has anyone ever done cranio-sacral massage?
