consequences for every life form on earth could be severe in the event of Nuclear War.
The American journalist Jonathan Schell said the following about
the nature of the threat of extinction posed by nuclear arms:
Extinction is more terrible--is the more radical nothingness--
because extinction ends death just as surely as it ends birth
and life.
Death is only death; extinction is the Death of death.
The deadly and apocalyptic nature of nuclear weapons produces
the awesome concept of the "death of death" The wasteland resulting
from a full scale nuclear conflict would be a place where neither
death nor nothingness exist, where there is no meaning of any kind.
There are many fronts that put us all at threat of extinction, but nuclear arms are the worst threat to all life on this planet, the death of death, a nothingness, A burned out walnut shell wabling in space.
