Abortion

Can we talk about abortion here and keep the topic to abortion threads. I am busy tonight but I will write tomorrow about this topic.

How China's One-Child Policy Led To Forced Abortions, 30 Million Bachelors

Last October, China ended its 35-year-old policy of restricting most urban families to one child. Commonly referred to as the "one-child" policy, the restrictions were actually a collection of rules that governed how many children married couples could have.

"The basic idea was to encourage everybody, by coercion if necessary, to keep to ... one child," journalist Mei Fong tells Fresh Air's Terry Gross.

Fong explores the wide-ranging impact of what she calls the world's "most radical experiment" in her new book, One Child. She says that among the policy's unintended consequences is an acute gender imbalance.

"When you create a system where you would shrink the size of a family and people would have to choose, then people would ... choose sons," Fong says. "Now China has 30 million more men than women, 30 million bachelors who cannot find brides. ... They call them guang guan, 'broken branches,' that's the name in Chinese. They are the biological dead ends of their family."

Fong says the policy also led to forced abortions and the confiscation of children by the authorities. Looking ahead, China is also facing a shortage of workers who can support its aging population.

"Right now China has a dependency ratio of about five working adults to support one retiree. That's pretty good, that's a very healthy ratio. In about 20 years that's going to jump to about 1.6 working adults to support one retiree," Fong says. "The one-child policy drastically reshaped the composition of China's people. So now they have a population that's basically too old and too male and, down the line, maybe too few.

Abortion Statistics in China

Chinese data show that 13 million abortions are performed each year, for an average rate of 35,000 abortions per day.[xii]

One field researcher has concluded that he is fairly certain that most of the 13 million annual abortions are forced.[xiii]

According to Steven Mosher, most of the millions of abortions carried out in China have the character of a rape; that is, they were performed on women who were ordered, or even physically forced, to submit to the knife.[xiv]

Since 1971, doctors have performed 336 million abortions, have performed 196 million sterilizations, and have inserted 403 million intrauterine devices. (For comparison, in the US, where the population is about one-quarter the size of China’s, an estimated 50 million abortions have been performed since 1973.)[xv]

55% of all women in China have had an abortion and 27.3% of women in their 20’s—about 27.3 million women—have had an abortion.[xvi]

In 2000, more than half of all abortions in China were a result of prenatal sex selection.[xvii]

One survey of 8,846 women showed that of those women who have had one abortion, 35.97% have another abortion shortly after the first one.[xviii]

An average of 8 million women undergo abortions every year in China.[xix]

The abortion rate among women in China is 29.3%, which far exceeds the average level of other developed nations; in the population of 20-29 year-old young women, the abortion rate is 62%.[xx]

In Shanghai, Beijing and other large cities, the rate of repeat abortion is higher than 50%.[xxi]

Regulations requiring women who violate family-planning policy to terminate their pregnancies still exist in the 25th, 42nd, and 22nd provisions of the Population and Family Control Regulation of Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang provinces, respectively. An additional 10 provinces--Fujian, Guizhou, Guangdong, Gansu, Jiangxi, Qinghai, Sichuan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Yunnan--require unspecified "remedial measures" to deal with unauthorized pregnancies.[xxii]

While some researchers have suggested that Hepatitis is responsible for the high sex ratio, this is not supported by the evidence. Looking at the 2000 census data, if a second child is a male it will arrive, on average, 4 months later than a second born female. This delay in birth indicates that there is human intervention, abortions or infanticide, taking place before the birth of a male second child.[xxiii]

Here Jennifer, go ahead and deconstruct Freelee's argument. This is typical of SOME WESTERN animal rights activists, who are usually promiscuous and atheist types.

"I had an abortion, and yes, I would do it again." This is by Freelee.

I am happy that Freelee is doing better in life by getting rid of bad habits and I want to encourage her to do better and be better. She has plans to remove her breast implants in the future. This is about refining the western atheist animal rights activist mindset to be more ethical, since some of these vegans are very pro-abortion. Food for thought, Freelee. Really glad you are trying to improve yourself.
Peace

Well, I don't believe in restricting family size and forced abortions. I hope nobody is twisting the fact that China restricted family size so there were forced abortions - is somehow related to anti-abortion believers.

I'm not a fan of China in general being they're Communist and so many horror stories I've heard about how the mothers or parents treat their children. Child abuse. And stories from those guys married to an Asian/Chinese female...

I never did get why some people think that China is so great a place. Probably young people who think socialism/communism is great. I visualize mechanical people, controlled people walking around like robots.

Yuck, I never did watch Freelee cause I'm not into personalities/celebrities/status like the libs are, and now that I just started this video, I know why. Just off the bat, first impression - I cant stand her. Plus her eyebrows are too thin - over-plucked.

Like she's talking down to the rest of us that abortion is perfectly great because it's 'A CHOICE' 'THE WOMAN'S BODY', and we're too stupid to get that.

I'll try to get through the rest of it without gagging.

LD: That’s right, that’s right and so what I realized is they are Funding Research - there are 2 Main Areas of Research they want to Fund. Now this encompasses a very broad area. #1) they want to encompass Research on How they can Create, alright? That’s what all of this Embryonic Stem Cell Research is for and that’s why they introduced and approved of Partial Birth Abortion. For those who don’t understand what Partial Birth Abortion is - It is the most horrific thing you can imagine. They wait until a child is full grown in the womb and then, when it is ready to be born, they can turn it around inside the mother’s womb and have it come out feet first instead of head first. So they deliver the entire child alive, except the head is still in the mother’s womb, then they reach in with an instrument and Stick it into the Base of the Brain of the unborn alive child, that is his legs and arms are moving and it’s already the last instant to have its head come out, and they stick an instrument in and Suck out its Brain. That is what Partial Birth Abortion is and the reason they want it is #1) they want it for Organ Donations because when they have the full term child that’s ready to be born, they immediately take it into the next room and takeout all of its Organs to be used for Organ Donations, so they make a pile of Money on this. Now, you see, the Hospital is Not Allowed or the Unit that’s doing the Abortions is Not Allowed to Sell the Babies, but what happens is the way they get around that is that these Donor Companies come in and Dismember this child and they pay a Huge Fee for the use of the Room and that’s the way they get around Buying the Baby’s Dead Bodies, OK, that’s the way they do it. And then, they Sell these Organs on the market for Huge amounts of Money. You can get a list of Prices and yet, it’s against the Law to Sell at a certain Price, but they do it and call it a Processing Fee. 25:21 MM

Who’s Who In the New World Order
Definition of Terms that will be used on this website

...

World Health Organization: The World Health Organization (WHO), established in 1948, is the U.N. System's authority on international public health issues. It is advertised as the organization that assists governments in improving national health services and in establishing worldwide standards for foods, chemicals, and biological and pharmaceutical products. WHO supposedly concentrates on preventive rather than curative programs, including efforts to eradicate endemic and other widespread diseases, stabilize population growth, improve nutrition, sanitation, and maternal and child care.

But in reality, the World Health Organization is the “euthanasia” arm of the United Nations.

The United Nations is in the hands of Jewish Zionists, for example:

*The wife of the U.N. Secretary-General Koffi Annan, is a Jew, the niece of Raoul Wallenberg, a member of the industrialist and banking Wallenberg clan. And it is possible that Annan, himself, is a Jew.

*Hans Blix, the UN Chief Weapons Inspector whose information about Iraqi supposed “weapons of mass destruction” was instrumental in the decision by the U.S. (Neo-cons) administration to invade Iraq, is Jewish.

*Boutros-Boutros Ghali, the former Secretary General of the United Nations was married to an openly Jewish woman named Leah Nadler.

*The U.S. Ambassador to the U. N., John Bolton, is a Zionist Jew.

The covert goal of the World Health Organization is to decrease the population in all countries of the world, especially the third world, by 1) vaccinations that CAUSE rather than prevent disease, 2) forced birth control, abortion and sterilization, 3) manufactured famines by weather control (creation of droughts), terminator seeds (seeds that don’t produce seeds), and withholding of meaningful medical care during pandemics, such as the AIDS pandemic in Africa.

“Food is Power. We use it to change behavior. Some may call that bribery. We do not apologize.”

Catherine Bertini, Executive Director U.N. World Food Program Beijing, China, U.N. 4th World Conference on Women, September, 1995

Zionism - 1) Jewish Zionism, and, 2) Christian Zionism:

Jewish Zionism: Zionism represents itself as a political movement concerned principally with the establishment of a state in Palestine to be controlled by and for Jews. It began in the late 19th Century and attained its stated objective with the creation in 1948 of the state of Israel by the United Nations (at the insistence of the United States and without the agreement of existing Middle Eastern states). Subsequently Israel doubled the amount of territory it controlled by means of its illegal occupation of the West Bank in the 1967 and 1973 wars.

This is what the average Jew believes about Zionism.

In its current form, Zionism seeks to dominate all of Palestine and the Middle East by means of violence and the threat of violence (using weapons manufactured and purchased with billions of dollars of "aid" supplied by the United States), and to maximize its influence in world affairs and in world history, principally by means of control of the government of the US (primarily by blackmailing its many corrupt politicians), at the expense of the social well-being not only of the Palestinians but of the peoples of all lands.

But Zionism means something very different to the leaders of International Jewry. They know full well that it is a plan to control the entire world, merge all corporations, businesses and financial houses into their hands, destroy all dissidents, and enslave those who are left. Their plan is to eliminate 5.5 billion of the world’s population by forced birth control, abortion, manufactured famines, manufactured pandemic diseases, war, executions, and other ways as revealed on this website.

* Jewish Zionism is the First Beast of Revelation, Chapter 13.

Christian Zionism: Many Christians, particularly Evangelical Christians, believe (incorrectly) that the present-day “Jews” in Israel and the other Jews around the world (the Diaspora), are God’s “Chosen People.” They support the Israelis brutal treatment of the Palestinians and Israel’s attempt to build the third temple on the Temple Mount. By so doing, they believe that they are “hastening the return of Jesus Christ.” (Please see “Who is the Church? Who is Israel?”)

This false doctrine of the Evangelicals, called “Dispensationalism,” originated primarily from the Scofield Bible. But now mainline Christian Churches are embracing this error, and the Bible predicts that the “whole world will follow after the Beast.” (Revelation 13:3)

If you are in childbearing age, every month your body goes thru a tremendous change to prepare it for a new baby.

It releases one egg per month, and your male partner provides 100 million sperms each time of intercourse or about 800 million sperms per month.

Nature does that great work and you and your partner decide not to have a baby, and all of those little living creatures go to die, to waste. Each month. 800 millions and 1little beings are wasted. And you see no problem with that.

Specious argument and I should ignore it, but I'm curious where you got it from. I assume it's one of the lib women abortionists' talking points. They sure are reaching with this one.

The big question you need to answer is where does life begin and stop?

Life begins at conception, meaning when a sperm fertilizes an egg and activates the growth of a baby.

If life begins at conception why do you refuse to let life begin?
If something is so divine and so good why dont you let happen?

Every month you have the chance for life to begin but you selfishly refuse to let it happen. Why???
You will have more children on earth. More life.
You are wasting your ability to have 20 or more children in your household.

You want to preach to others but you selfishly refuse to promote life.

Would you explain what you mean by this, RawPracticalist.

We were driven into it.

It was on dogs and other animals being boiled live.

Forced abortion, sterilization and other abuses were still commonly used to enforce China’s population control policy through 2015, the U.S. State Department has confirmed. In addition, the number of abortions in China appears to be a staggering 10 million higher than the commonly quoted figure of 13 million per year.

The Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2015 released Tuesday said that coercive methods in China generally have “markedly increased” in the last year. Listed among China’s many human rights abuses is “a coercive birth-limitation policy that, despite the lifting of one-child-per-family restrictions, in some cases resulted in forced abortion (sometimes at advanced stages of pregnancy).”

Perhaps most striking is the massive increase in the annual number of abortions in China. The Chinese government has repeatedly reported 13 million abortions a year, noting that according to official Chinese sources, “The number of abortions performed is believed to be higher,” because the statistics were collected only from registered medical institutions and did not include abortions at unregistered clinics.

The State Department Report, however, defines this “higher” number, stating the following at page 55 of the 141-page PDF version:

The National Health Population and Family Planning Commission reported that 13 million women annually terminated unplanned pregnancies. An official news media outlet also reported at least an additional 10 million chemically induced abortions were performed in nongovernment facilities. Government statistics on the percentage of all abortions that were nonelective was not available.

According to information provided by the State Department, therefore, China is not performing 13 million, but 23 million abortions per year.

13 million abortions a year was already an incomprehensible statistic. But to add another 10 million is truly staggering, incomprehensibly tragic. 23 million abortions a year comes to 63,013 abortions a day, 2625 abortions an hour, 43 per minute.

The population of the United States is about 320 million, with about 1 million abortions per year. The population of China is almost 1.4 billion, with about 23 million abortions per year. Therefore, with four times the population of the United States, China has 23 times the number of abortions.

The State Department Report is significant not only for revealing the startling increase in the number of abortions performed, but also the brutal methods of enforcement.

“The country’s birth-limitation policies retained harshly coercive elements in law and practice,” stated the Report, which described the government’s “intense pressure” upon police to enforce local birth-limitation quotas.

According to the State Department, laws in 18 Chinese provinces require abortion, sometimes euphemized as “remedial measures,” for illegal pregnancies. Officials in the remaining 13 provinces also were found to have used forced abortion to meet birth limits.

The Report noted that the linking of police job promotion to success in meeting birth quotas “provided a powerful structural incentive for officials to employ coercive measures to meet population goals.”

The Report also confirmed that any woman pregnant outside of marriage breaks the law in almost all provinces, and that so-called “social compensation fees” up to ten times an individual’s disposable income were also levied as punishment under the Policy. Where a couple already had two children, one member of the couple was often required to be sterilized.

This Report proves what advocates have been saying all along: coercion, forced abortion and involuntary sterilization continue unabated through 2015. They will continue under the Two-Child Policy. Unmarried women and third children will still be forcibly aborted.

The State Department Report cited several anecdotal examples of the coercion experienced by Chinese citizens under the Two-Child Policy.

For example, it cited a September case in which a woman complained through social media that local officials threatened to fire her police officer husband if she refused to abort their second child, with whom she was eight months’ pregnant.

The Report also stated that, while officially prohibited, sex-selective abortion “continued because of traditional preference for male children and the birth-limitation policy.” Further, “female infanticide, gender-biased abortions, and the abandonment and neglect of baby girls remained problems due to the traditional preference for sons and the birth-limitation policy.

This is a spiritual perspective on abortion:

Many spiritual people consider abortion to be murder. When a soul enters the baby/fetus, it has a destiny and a future. Even if it's murdered, it has to live out its life in another dimension, because our lives are multidimensional. Even if this flesh body dies, the life in other dimensions has go through the life cycle. This involves suffering to the soul.
Different religions explain this process differently, such as Christianity, hinayana buddhism, tibetan buddhism, etc.
So the sin of abortion is the suffering caused to the baby.

You will find all the orthodox religions teaching principles and techniques to control lust. This issue is so heightened in China, where forced abortion exists, because believers must control their sex life so they do not become pregnant in the first place if they are not allowed to have the baby, because they know the consequences are dire to the baby (and themselves) if they do.

There is no consensus on when the soul enters the body.

But should that matters?

I tell a luxury car manufacturer to build a car for me.

It will take weeks or months to get it ready.

The order is placed (conception) and the car is delivered when I pay and get the keys (birth).

Think about the tremendous amount of work, living cells involved in building a human body. And all of the billions of cells have life and consciousness.

So if we have reverence for life, we should be careful and not waste nature effort. Some loving making teachings like Kareeza and Tantra teach physical and emotional intimacy where males are taught not to release sperm during intercourse when there is no plan for pregnancy. So Love making does not have to lead to abortion and unpleasant experience. We can have our cake and eat it too.

Personally I believe that the soul enters the body at birth, when the baby take his first independent breath and cries.

But the soul is aware long before birth that the body being prepared will be his and the soul may spiritually visit the mother during pregnancy. Just as we would when we have placed the order for a luxury car to see the how the work is progressing.
