ILhan Omar on a path to make history.

Cortez stumped for Omar, Surfs up Blue wave

Minnesota state Rep. Ilhan Omar won the Democratic primary on Tuesday for the state’s 5th Congressional District, putting her on a path to make history.

Omar defeated four other Democratic candidates in a crowded race to fill the seat that opened up when Rep. Keith Ellison (D) announced his bid to become the state’s attorney general. She’ll face Republican Jennifer Zielinski in November’s general election. In the solidly Democratic district, Omar is the favorite to prevail.

If Omar wins the seat, she will become one of the nation’s first Muslim women in Congress ? she’ll likely be joined in the historic feat by fellow Democrat Rashida Tlaib, who won her primary for a House seat in Michigan last week. Tlaib is all but guaranteed to win in November in her heavily Democratic district, earning a spot in the nation’s history books.

For Omar ? who was born in Somalia and spent four years in a refugee camp in Kenya before coming to the U.S. at age 12 ? breaking barriers will be nothing new. When she was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2016, she became the nation’s first Somali-American legislator.

“I hope my candidacy would allow people to have the boldness to encourage people who don’t fit into [a] particular demographic to seek office,” she told HuffPost that year. “To believe in the good will of the people to select someone they believe shares their vision and not necessarily their identity.”

Humble beginnings
Ilhan Omar's family migrated to the US while she was still in her teens. Prior to that, she had spent four years at arefugee camp in Kenya following their escape from the civil war in Somalia. Her family moved to Arlington, Virginia, before they finally settled in Minneapolis in 1997. She was able to learn English in three years and later graduated with a degree in political science.

Omar, a longtime political and community activist, previously worked as a senior policy aide and campaign manager for Andrew Johnson who is a member of the Minneapolis City Council. She currently works as director of policy initiatives for the Women Organizing Women Network. The group counsels East African women on civic participation and leadership.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

At yesterday’s town hall, someone asked how I, as just a human, am dealing with the hate, subconscious bias & criticism.

I’ve been told my whole life I’m not up to snuff. Folks always doubt my worthiness until I get it done.

Tune it out.
Stay focused and positive.
Keep pushing.

I don't care what race or color they are; I just care that they're Libs - Socialists/Statists/Communists - and so are dangerous with an agenda of - Higher Taxes, More Government, Government Owns Everything, Government Controls Everything, Government Controls Everybody, Open Borders.

Libs Love Government:

Government Daycare, Government Public Schools, Government Free Collage for All, Government Free Healthcare for All, Government Jobs for All, Government Welfare For All, Government Housing, Government Food Stamps for All, Government Takes Over Financial Industry, Government Owns all Businesses. Citizens poor as hell.

Yeah, that's feasible and would end well - like Venezuela.

Wow what a road this young lady has been down.
The Muslem bashing has backfired.
