I remember when we Democrats became informed about the plight of Muslim women in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan through the phony "War on Terror" scam started by Bush, who I did not vote for and did not like. We Democrat women were outraged at the treatment Muslim women endured at the hands of the Muslim men through Islam/Sharia Law - Stoning, Beheading. Another of those outrages was the Muslim Cultural custom of Female Genital Mutilation.

Fast forward to today. Now Lib Women just love the Muslim men and refugees and so think Islam or Sharia Law is just fine for everyone, no matter how women have to wear those horrible outfits that cover everything except their eyes in 110 degree heat; oh, that's fine, too, because Muslim Men/refugees are wonderful (now white men, they're horrible) so how they treat their women is totally ignored.

So now Lib Women think Female Genital Mutilation is just fine - because Muslim men - and if you disagree, you're 'racist', of course.

Outrageous! Federal Judge Tosses US Law Criminalizing Barbaric Practice of Female Genital Mutilation

On Tuesday a Michigan judge declared America’s ban on female genital mutilation is unconstitutional.

Millions of little girls and young women have been subjected to a painful rite of passage that involves cutting their genitals — often without anesthesia — for centuries in parts of Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

The Detroit Free Press reported:

In a major blow to the federal government, a judge in Detroit has declared America’s female genital mutilation law unconstitutional, thereby dismissing the key charges against two Michigan doctors and six others accused of subjecting at least nine minor girls to the cutting procedure in the nation’s first FGM case.

The historic case involves minor girls from Michigan, Illinois and Minnesota, including some who cried, screamed and bled during the procedure and one who was given Valium ground in liquid Tylenol to keep her calm, court records show.

The judge’s ruling also dismissed charges against three mothers, including two Minnesota women whom prosecutors said tricked their 7 -year-old daughters into thinking they were coming to metro Detroit for a girls’ weekend, but instead had their genitals cut at a Livonia clinic as part of a religious procedure.

U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman concluded that “as despicable as this practice may be,” Congress did not have the authority to pass the 22-year-old federal law that criminalizes female genital mutilation, and that FGM is for the states to regulate. FGM is banned worldwide and has been outlawed in more than 30 countries, though the U.S. statute had never been tested before this case.

At some point, even the most liberal laws in America are going to have to face that islam law allows for the murder of non muslims, which is why so many muslims have tried killing Christians or tried killing muslims who converted to Christianity.

U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman continues his complicity in the torture of young girls with his dismissal of female genital mutilation charges against multiple doctors who engaged in the barbaric practice.

Violent misogynists have found a friend in Friedman, who continues to make a mockery of the law and bends to the will of the defense attorneys in one of the ugliest ongoing battles in the country. In this historic case, two Michigan doctors stand accused of heading a conspiracy involving six other people for a dozen years to mutilate the genitals of at least nine girls. Although 27 states already have state laws completely banning FGM, the "doctors" are being charged for breaking the federal law that specifically protects minors from FGM.

Judge Friedman is ruling that transporting minors across state lines with the specific intention of soliciting the services of professional torture artists is not covered by the Commerce Clause, and thus, federal law should be stricken down.

This isn't only legally ridiculous; it's moral bankruptcy of the highest order, a bending of the law to protect and normalize systemic violence against women.

FGM is slowly invading America, with the rate of girls and women subjected to FGM having tripled in the past three decades, predominately in California, New York, and Minnesota. Interestingly, Minnesota just elected a congresswoman who was one of only four state representatives to vote against a state law that made FGM a felony. Her name is Ilhan Omar.

On its face, the continued rationale of Friedman's rulings, from removing three mothers who knowingly tricked their daughters into traveling to force them to undergo FGM from the case to now trying to strike down the 22-year-old federal law under the absurd claim that Congress lacks constitutional authority to prohibit professional torture, specifically the kind that pushed at least a handful of minors across state lines, is patently absurd.

Even the most limited, contemporary reading of the Commerce Clause would allow Congress to protect minors from being forcibly shoved across state lines to undergo medically detrimental torture. (One of the victims was drugged with Valium to make her compliant.)

In far more controversial realms of the law, such as abortion regulation, the Commerce Clause is generally accepted as giving Congress the authority to regulate within reason. Furthermore, even the best legal parallel and precedent, U.S. v. Morrison, only struck down statues entirely unrelated to commerce. One can assume that eliminating the federal regulations on FGM would directly affect interstate commerce.

Friedman's willingness to play into the pathetic legal ploys of the defense is a step beyond intellectually farcical. It's bending the law over backwards to gut a perfectly constitutional protection of minors across the country.

Minnesota Bill Against Female Genital Mutilation Raises Opposition

After the bill's near-unanimous passage in the House, longtime critics of the practice have raised concerns about the measure, leading to some second thoughts.

Opposition from some members of Minnesota’s immigrant and refugee communities is slowing the momentum of a bill that would impose stiff penalties for parents involved in cases of female genital mutilation.

Since the bill’s near-unanimous passage in the Minnesota House this week, some longtime critics of the ritual have met with senators, lobbied the governor’s office and handed out fliers — all to raise alarm about the legislation.

The Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage, a nonprofit called Isuroon and other groups argue that the legislation carries overly harsh punishment and unintended consequences, including the possibility that newcomers from countries where genital cutting is widespread would not seek medical care and other services for their children. They call for a less punitive approach focused on educating parents.

Now, the author of the Senate version is voicing second thoughts about approving the legislation yet this session, though Senate GOP leadership have not committed to a course of action. “We all agree this practice is absolutely horrible, and something needs to be done,” said the author, Sen. Karin Housley. “How can we empower communities to address this practice from within rather than having Big Brother come down and say, ‘This is wrong?’?”

Republican Rep. Mary Franson, who introduced the House bill, said the Senate is bowing to pressure from groups “more concerned with perception than doing the right thing and protecting girls.”

“Watering down the bill really does a disservice to the little girls who are in danger,” she said.

Franson’s bill makes it a felony for parents to subject their daughters to the procedure and calls for loss of custody and prison terms from five to 20 years, depending on the extent of the injuries. It also increases penalties for those who perform the procedure, which has been illegal since pioneering Minnesota legislation in the 1990s.

The bill won support from all but four of the 128 House members who voted, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, the country’s first Somali-American legislator.

Fadumo Abdinur, one of several Somali-American women who testified in favor of the bill, said stiff penalties are needed to root out a practice that leaves girls and women with long-term health problems. Abdinur, who experienced genital cutting, did not get her period until she was 20, and only after a Texas physician partly reversed her procedure. She also suffered painful periods and intercourse.

“I don’t want any girl to go through this,” she said. “I will talk against it for the rest of my life.”

Lul Hersi, a St. Cloud mother of four and a supporter of the bill, says the United States should warn refugee parents against rushing to have their daughters cut before traveling to the United States — and disqualify them from resettlement if they do: “The parents know the risks they’re putting their kids in.”

Fartun Weli of Isuroon, which won a $180,000 federal grant this winter to educate health care providers about the procedure, stresses that she does not condone the practice.
