A woman called up the Mark Levin Show tonight and said she's the Administrative Medical Director/Clinician/Doctor at a Nursing Home in Westchester. That they received a directive from Cuomo, which she read on the air, that they must accept Covid-19 patients at her Nursing Home! She said she's trying to reach someone at Cuoma's office or anybody in the govt, but 'you can never speak to anyone'. Figures. She said the Wall Street Journal did pick up the information, so I found this. But guaranteed you'll never hear this in the Lib Media!

New York told nursing-home operators that they will be required to accept patients infected with the new coronavirus who are discharged from hospitals but may be still convalescing, amid more cases in the state that are straining the health-care system.

The decision will draw pushback from some nursing-home officials, who have warned that such moves endanger residents who aren’t infected by the virus, because discharged patients may still be contagious. A group representing doctors who work in nursing homes, known as AMDA, the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine, said in a recent resolution that “admitting patients with suspected or documented Covid-19 infection represents a clear and present danger to all of the residents of a nursing home.”

“We’ve got an extraordinarily vulnerable population on our hands,” said Christopher Laxton, executive director of the group. Nursing homes’ older, often frail residents are particularly susceptible to the virus. Many nursing homes have also long struggled with infection control, according to federal inspection records and researchers.

Covid-19, the respiratory illness caused by the new coronavirus, has been spreading rapidly in nursing homes, resulting in large outbreaks and more deaths across the U.S. The federal government has said there are cases in at least 147 nursing homes, with clusters and deaths reported in elder-living facilities from Louisiana to Vermont to Florida.

Looks like NY State isn't the only state purposefully infecting people to increase their coronavirus numbers.

Not sure how NY State works but Minnesota is actually doing something similar without the Order coming from State. Hospitals need beds, they are transferring patients to Sub Acute Care Nursing Homes, Sub Acute is transferring to Nursing Home Regular bed with higher acuity availability, Nursing Homes are transferring to empty Assisted Living beds. I'm a AL Provider for 250 beds statewide. Our phones are blowing up this week with referrals from Nursing Homes with plans to transfer dozens in the coming week/two. That said we are not being asked to accept positive Covid cases.

As an RN, this is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. First nursing homes were told to lock down, not even allowing family members or nurses in from home health and hospice agencies with patients in the facilities to check up on them. And now they are told they must let in recovering Covid19 patients? This man’s head has always been in a low, dark place that doesn’t smell too good, but he is really pushing for the mother lode now

What legal authority does NY have to tell Nursing Homes that they have to take anybody?

Nursing homes have accounted for one-third of all new coronavirus infections in an Italian region’s daily count, officials said.

The number of infections in central Lazio rose by 195 on Thursday, with more than 60 of these recorded in care homes.

“The rise was essentially linked to a cluster of cases in nursing homes and religious institutions which we must keep paying close attention to,” Alessio D’Amato, the region’s health director, said.

“The number of registered cases today in nursing homes was 67, which was more than one-third of the total daily cases,” he added.

Elderly residents who had tested positive at one centre in Rome – which sits in the Lazio region – were transferred to hospital facilities, Mr D’Amato said.

The nursing home had been put in isolation after some staff members were diagnosed with Covid-19, according to local media reports.

Coronavirus outbreaks have occurred in care homes around the world, including more than 140 in the US and others in Spain.

A suspected string of infections were reported at a nursing home in Brighton earlier this week.

Elderly people are more vulnerable to serious illness if they contract Covid-19, a flu-like disease that can turn into pneumonia, according to UK government advice.

The Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths told New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to reverse a policy that forces nursing homes to accept new residents infected with the coronavirus who have been discharged from hospitals but are still recovering.

“Cuomo’s edict, if reported correctly, dooms thousands of elderly to illness and likely death,” the committee wrote in a press release. “Basic infection control says to identify and contain. Cuomo’s edict does the opposite: conceal and spread.”

So in Virginia there are 63 Coronavirus Deaths (supposedly) and oh, yeah -

32 of the Virginia Deaths are at One Nursing Home. So 50% of Coronavirus Deaths in Virginia are at one nursing home! Sure do wish there was some numbers on how many Coronavirus Deaths in the US are from Nursing Homes ...

In November 1970, Offcials in Oregon USA Decided to blow up a rotting whale carcass. The whole thing went horribly wrong. Why bring this up? Well the story can teach us three things

The story begins when a 45 foot sperm whale wased up on the beach in Florance Oregon on november 1970.

There was some debate amongst the locals what to do about it.

1. although unpleasant, they coud leave it to decompose.

2.They could try chop it up and bury it (again not pleasant}

3.They could blow it up with dynamite and hope the seaguls ate the small chunks.

It was decided that leaving the whale to decompose would be to unpleasant in the short term.

No one wants the smell of when their eating christman dinner.

Fortunately at least for' the purpose of this history lesson, They chose opton 3
they would blow the whale up.

By his own admission, he was not sure how much dynamite would be needed to completely oblitorate one of the worlds lagest mammals, So he optid for a half tonne.

An Ex member of the military advised Goerge and other offcials that this was waaaay too much and a few sticks of dynamite would be enough.
They ignord his advice.

On 12 November, In front of a crowd excited spectators (Yes really )they exploaded the whale,...

Very quickly, The short sidedness of the plan became evident.

The huge amount of dynamite sent massive chunks blubber flying through the chily air, and it rained down on around the terrified on lookes.

The overwhelming smell sent people running for their homes as rotting whale plopped down around them.
the situation was dangerous- A car was even crushed by a hugh lump of blubber a
quarter mile way.

To cap everything off, the main bit of whale stayed exactly where it had been.
The problem had not gone away,

Only Now there where thousands of bits of the problem spread for miles around.

So why do we tell this story? Well as far as we can see there are three coronavirus lessons here.

Under fire, New York state officials are launching a probe into whether nursing homes are complying with safety orders related to the coronavirus amid the deaths of more than 3,500 residents, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday.

The move followed widespread criticism of Cuomo’s handling of nursing homes amid the pandemic, including his admission that he didn’t know the facilities had to admit infected people and claiming Wednesday that “it’s not our job” to provide them with safety gear.

“We’re gonna undertake an investigation of nursing homes now, to make sure they’re following the rules,” Cuomo said during his daily coronavirus briefing in Albany.

“It’s going to be a joint Department of Health and attorney general investigation.”

Cuomo also said an additional 35 nursing home residents had died from COVID-19 since his Wednesday briefing.

Nursing homes, Cuomo said, “get paid to take care of a resident and they have to do it in accordance with state rules.”

“And if they don’t, we will take appropriate action.”

Any failure to comply with coronavirus-related directives from the DOH and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention could result in fines of $10,000 per violation or revocation of a nursing home’s operating license.

Those directives include taking temperature checks of all employees and providing them with adequate personal protective equipment, Cuomo said.

On Wednesday, the governor sparked outrage when he said that “it’s not our job” to provide nursing homes with PPE on grounds that they’re private entities that get paid for their service.

Other requirements include notifying residents and their relatives of any coronavirus cases within 24 hours, quarantining infected residents and admitting people infected with the illness, “but only if they can provide an appropriate level of care,” Cuomo said.

The head of the state’s nursing home industry group, Stephen Hanse, has blamed the state’s admission policy for bringing the coronavirus into some homes — where the governor has acknowledged that it spreads “like fire in dry grass.”

“This prevented them from safeguarding their residents and staff,” Hanse, CEO of the New York State Health Facilities Association, told The Post.

Relatives of nursing home residents have also said facilities have been thrown into chaos by the pandemic, with one woman saying of the helpless inhabitants, “It’d be a miracle if they survive this.”
