What you said below is my favorite, Veronique. It's beautiful! (And so true, IMO)

Hey, patty -- did you ever have 'freeway dreams'? I do every so often. In mine, I'm on a huge, maybe 6 lane freeway, and I'm lost and don't know where to go, and scared, but at least there are no other cars -- it's empty. Whatever that all means.

Happy News:
I found the most breathtakingly beautiful place to do qigong during my work breaks! I work as a street performance monitor in the town square here, and I have a lot of time on my hands after I do my 'rounds.' On one of my breaks yesterday I headed down to the river (a 3 minute walk) and found a park that's so green and lush that it's just loaded with prana. There are huge expanses of green grass there, and I did my qigong routine right next to a huge pine tree, not far from a beautiful fountain, and a few hundred yards away from the river flowing by. Paradise. And it sure beats going to Starbucks for 40 minutes and doing beadwork or reading.

happy news

i woke up from a scary disorienting dream
it woke me up in the middle of the night
so i roamed about trying to put my spirit into balance
the more i "roamed" the more refreshed i felt

now i can't wait to get back to sleep
and change the dream scape into something fantastic and beautiful

i feel better now
that is the happy news

little things make me happy
even a slight mood shift

Well this is very personal, but it's good news for me.

Yesterday I calmly confronted a scary, toxic family member about his secretly reading my email and online banking information for the past 3 + years. I suspected it long ago, and known conclusively for for almost a year, but never could stand up for myself.

So yesterday I did, expecting the smoothly-delivered indignant denial, but I was prepared and didn't let more lies upset me,

I feel better today having done it. Big victory over my fear.

I'm also finding my heart problems are improving (yay raw vegan diet).

story:

i decided 2 take a bike ride in the sweaty florida sun, up 2 a veggie stand about a mile away.
i was so determined 2 buy a giant , sweet , juicy watermelon at that stand that i was totally oblivios 2 the fact that my bikes tires were flat...
which i realized halfway there.
but i was determined 2 get my watermelon,, it had been 2 weeks and i couldnt wait any longer ...
i didnt care if i had 2 endure rain, snow, sleet, hail, or flat bike tires,,
i was getting that watermelon.
so i got to the stand and got the biggest one there was
a twenty pounder
and paid for it with coins that i borrowed from my sister...without her knowing
i knew it was wrong...
i knew i would somehow i would pay for it... yepp deffinately some bad karma going on with those coins.

along with the watermelon i got 2 tomatoes
so i put the tomatoes in a bad and stuck them on my handlebars
but what the hell was i gunna do with that twenty pound watermelon..and flat tires
determined 2 ride the bike while holding the 20 pound watermelon
i stick it under my one arm and went.
im biking down the road like an idiot who looks like she forgot 2 take her stupid pills.
everytime my knee went up things were fine, but everytime i pettled back down the watermelon would flop around everywhere and id swerve, until finally
BAM
watermelon dead
it broke into 2 big pieces all over the dirty dirt road
i was pissed...what 2 do?...
i hadnt eaten all day ...
and that watermelon looked good
real good
even with the dirt
so i scarfed into it right there in the middle of the road..it was fantastic :]
i was drenched in watermelon juice , sweat and dirt
finally i got some bags and stuck the other huge half on the other handle bar of my bike
and i petalled down to the main road...barely
then halfway there the bag with my new wallet and tomatoes gets caught in the bike wheel and shreds the tomatoes all over the middle of the road again
tomatoe dead
my new wallet was tomatoefied
the worst part was all the people who drove by and gave me a look like i was crazy
maybe i was crazy
but i was gunna get home riding my flat tired bike with my watermelon dammit!
so i went
swerving all over the road, red faced, and out of breath with two huge bags swinging and banging into my knees as i rode

finally i got home
i rinsed off my watermelon
and i ate it

bad news- one tomatoe died that day.. it never got the chance 2 be eaten
and
never take coins from your sister

good news... i got my watermelon :]

There is a local restaurant owned by some young middle-easterns. The food is extremely tasty (but not raw). It's in an upscale neighbourhood and has a strong, ever-increasing, clientele-base.

The owners charge affluent customers the menu prices, which allows them to feed many indigent people for free, street-people and others who are struggling. It's all done quietly and on-demand and given freely and happily.

They also hold benefits for various charities, Iraqian war refugees, etc.

It's not raw, but it's nice.

someone sent me this long ago and i kept it for some unknown reason. apparently just so i'd have it to stick it in here...

-Why do people say "The alarm just went off" when really it just came on?
-Why does the Easter bunny carry eggs? Rabbits don't lay eggs.
-Do bald people get dandruff?
-Do stairs go up or down?
-If you swallow a burp does it turn into a fart?
-Do coffins have lifetime guarantees?
-Why did Yankee Doodle name the feather in his hat Macaroni?
-Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here and drink what comes out"?
-Can you get cornered in a round room?
-Who was the first person to say, "See that chicken over there ... I'm gonna eat the first thing that comes out if its butt"?
-Why do they call it disposable @#$%&? Is there a kind of @#$%& you keep after using?
-Why is it that if something says, "do not eat" on the packaging it becomes extra tempting to eat?
-Why do they report power outages on TV?
-Why is a women's prison called a penal colony?
-Have ex-punsters been expunged?
-Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
-How fast do hotcakes sell?
-Do cows drink milk?
-Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp which no decent human being would eat?
-What's the opposite of opposite?
-When pigs fart, does it smell like bacon?
-IF MONEY DOES NOT GROW ON TREES, WHY DO BANKS HAVE BRANCHES?

i adopted a new dog this weekend . a 7 year old toy poodle that had been used up in a puppy mill

she will live out her days in comfort and lavish amounts of attention, good raw food, lots of sunshine and more love then she will know what to do with.

she will never know again what its like to live in a damp smelly dirty little cage churning out puppy after puppy

i think this is happy news smiling smiley

aquadecoco --

Wow!!!! Your story really inspired me. I always wanted to have a restaurant or hostel that catered to the homeless and poor; thanks for letting us know that there are still people who are manifesting my dream. :-)

fuzzy--

Yay! I love your story; it made me laugh and also admire the heck out of you.

Kwan, it's not raw, but you would love this place (restaurant) for the good feeling it has.

From the beginning, it was set up to use the 'Robin Hood' method of helping the indigent. I used to wonder why their prices were so high - they pushed as high as they could till people protested, then softened them slightly. Pretty smart I think. They always treat people with graciousness, whether they're paying or not.

It's good to know there's a functioning restaurant who is pulling this off, rather than it just being one of those ideas that pops into your head and is dismissed as untenable.
