What do you do for a living?

Date: September 03, 2007 07:57PM I was just curious about what everyone did for a living...or maybe I'm just being noisy. It seems like there are many people here that make a living by helping people
Right now I am a senior in college studying early childhood education. I recently became a Certified Educator of Infant Massage. I teach parents and caregivers how to bond and attach with their infants through nurturing touch. I am also trying to become a Certified Child Life Specialist in a hospital or health care setting. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the child life profession (which I assume is most of you, people always give me the strangest looks when I tell them what I want to be) I will be interacting with children and their families in a medical setting to help reduce the stress and trauma that goes along with the hospital stay. So what do you do, I look forward to hearing about what everyone does Re: What do you do for a living?

Date: September 03, 2007 09:02PM I do licensed childcare, and wish I'd done my ece credits as I went along. I think they are offerend online now and maybe I'd get some credit for my 30+ years of doing licensed childcare if I applied. I'd like to have at least 6 credits.
I don't know what a Certified Child Life Speicalist does either..but sounds commendable. Good luck! Oh..don't be surprised if this thread gets moved to another forum since it's off topic. Love, Prism Re: What do you do for a living?

Date: September 03, 2007 10:13PM I work at a Safeway, and I'm a copywriter. It's good for getting foods cheaper, but this is a small community so there's not a lot of support for organic stuff. The copywriting bit is actually how I found out more in-depth about going raw Re: What do you do for a living?

Date: September 03, 2007 10:19PM I am an artist. I am hoping to go to grad school to study art therapy next year in order to learn how to bring out the healing aspects of my own art rather than to become a clinical art therapist (although I'm not opposed to showing others the power that can be found in their own art making and creativity as well). Date: September 04, 2007 03:15AM I love working with the younger ones too. Infants are my favorite group to work with, it is just so fun and exciting watching them go through all the developmental milestones within their first year so quickly. I don't think I could ever teach middle school children, I guess I should never say never....but I think like you said dewey, too much drama and hormones. Re: What do you do for a living?

Date: September 06, 2007 10:43PM Hey Pilhourova,
That's cool! My husband just published a book-- it finally showed up on Amazon in August and he got his first royalty check last week. What a rush! What's your book about? Is it fiction or non-fiction? Jonathan's book is a science fiction/spiritual fantasy (think Matrix meets Harry Potter?) adventure, 500 pages long. Here's the link: [www.amazon.com] Hope it works. If not, just go to Amazon.com and type in Cybernauts of Metatron in the search field and it'll come right up. Warning: it's expensive. It's a very large, 500 page book, very similar in size to the Harry Potter book that just came out, so even though it's paperback, the publisher priced it at over $30. (This one's worth it, however!) There's a character in the book named Azimuth who initiates Joey (the main character, an MIT physicist) into the path of immortality; his spiritual teachings are a real treat, as are Joey's adventures in Tibet toward the end of the book. Date: September 10, 2007 08:52PM kwan, my book in fiction. it is being written in a way that shows the different characteristics of humans. there are characters i hate, but some of the readers may love and visa versa.
its about a couple that are deeply in love, but its not a love story. its sort of a black comedy/ tragedy / drama/ well..... i am still working on it. basically this couple faces their own demons and through each other, they also see the good in themselves through each other. its hard to explain with out giving too much away!!!!!! they travel the world romancing others. making others fall in love with them, sometimes for riches and sometimes just for fun. and they laugh and cry together about it. anyway, this is what it is about so far. it is evolving into something much more, but i dont know what yet! i can not wait to find out. Your book sounds really great too! I've tried writing and I did publish a couple of articles, but my main area of creativity is music and beadwork right now. Do you find yourself sitting down every day to write for a certain amount of time, or is it more instinctive? We looked for quite awhile to find a publisher (as this was Jonathan's first book) and we were so lucky to find out about Publish America from another author. It's not a vanity press and you don't have to pay a cent for editing or anything else, and they do wonderful work. It took about 9 months from acceptance to publication. You might want to check them out when you get ready to publish your book. Sharrhan: [www.facebook.com] Re: What do you do for a living?
