well, forget it... no... DON'T forget it

It was the most GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUSESS sound in the world ( well.. okay.. this is how i felt when i heard it)

well, i know for sure that I liked Pavrotti's version better though i first listened to Andrea Bocelli's version of

(drum roll)

Nessun Dorma

Pavrotti's version ... it is different.. definetely.. u can hear the subtleties of the difference.. like a more finer tuned instrument ( yeah.. i'm just pointing out the obvious?/ i like bocelli too ( don't shoot me bocelli fans)

its just that when I heard Pavrotti's version.. I nearly cried

in fact, i did

okay... so since i can't seem to get the links done correctly ( i tried many times)

i'll just give u the instructions

just go to

1) www.youtube.com

then put in pavrotti and nessun dorma

and then CLOSE YOUR EYES

turn off the lights

and just listen with your heart

if you hear bocelli's version, it is good too

it's just that pavrotti's voice just ... it was seamless..

bocelli's wasn't as seamless ... esp. in the beginning...

huge difference

well.. anyhow...

this is one of the greatest songs and i don't even know that much opera

nor do i know that much about pavrotti or bocelli

i just like that song

and i don't even know what it means

i heard it a couple of times

and fell in love with it

and then

just today

all of a sudden

it made me cry

I love Nessun Dorma, I have Jussi Bjoerling's version, I find his voice very pleasing.

what IS it about that song that just seems to

i dunno

there is SOMETHING to that song

maybe it would help if i knew what it meant but then again, somehow

i dont even want to know what the words mean... like i just wanted to hear his voicelike a musical instrument in and of itself which of course it is

and i'm sorry he passed away recently

but like everyone kept saying

he is singing as one of the choir angels in heaven

such an exquisite song

especially at the beginning

and well. the whole song

there is more to it than the song or the words

i know this

LaV, it's from Puccini's Turandot. Puccini is Mr. Melodramatic. I never got into Turandot (or tenors, for that matter) but I quite like La bohème.

A rought translation:

Nobody will sleep!
Nobody will sleep!
Not even you Princess,
in your cold room,
watch the stars,
that twinkle with love and with hope.
But my secret is hidden inside me,
nobody will know my name.
No!No!
I will tell it to you on your mouth when the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!
(No one will know his name and we must die.)
Vanish, night!
Set, stars! Set, stars!
At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

The lyrics, the music, and the story are not what makes this piece work. It takes a great artist to bring it to life and make it something more.

O soave fanciulla from Boheme is much more beautiful, a better piece of work all around. But for some reason it doesn't get as much attention.

i don't care what the words say

they mean not to me

just the sounds itself
