Keeping It Together

No matter what the details of our political beliefs, the ONE THING MANY OF US HAVE IN COMMON is that we want to STOP ALL WARS, stop the warfare mentality, and stop the imperialistic mind-set that brought us into the war in Iraq.

We have a mountain to climb, if we are going to acomplish this. But no one ever climbed a mountain with just one giant leap! We have to be patient and be willing to keep moving, even just one step at a time, if we're ever going to get anywhere.

Who said this would be easy?

Maybe we believe it would have been easieER if Kucinich, Gravel, or Paul were our next president. Perhaps we feel that one of them becoming president would have been a giant leap. Perhaps we feel bad now that it won't happen.

But with the enormous stakes that are presently at play, we need to keep it together and do the best we can with what we've got. We have to be able to pick ourselves up and not give away the whole bag of apples just because someone took our favorite apple out of the bag.

WE are a lot of people. TOGETHER we can make a difference if we are willing to be patient and reach forward, even just one step at a time, rather than losing our foothold and tumbling to the bottom because we're trying so hard to FLY to the top! Let's remember our COMMON BOND and use it to our greatest advantage!

The stakes involved in this race for presidency are enormous. And the reality is that the field of candidates has changed. We can't afford to be rigid and inflexible. It may be time to change our strategy to better deal with the change in the field.

To say the remaining candidates are all the same would be ridiculous. No two people in the entire world are the same.

So I'm asking people who really care to move ahead. Don't give up. Study the candidates that we have left, and decide for yourself who you think has the best potential for taking us up the mountain a few steps. Or for not bringing us down any further! Or even who you think will bring us down the LEAST!

Because if WE give up on this election, then someone ELSE will decide, and we'll all have to live with THEIR decision for the next 4 years.

And WHOEVER is president, WE will still have to be involved. Not just complaining, and not just informed (although those are both very important in a democracy), but also INVOLVED.
