Optimizing nutrition in dogs

I don't really like the idea of trying to turn dogs into vegans even though it is possible to do so. I don't know a lot about canine nutrition and was wondering if someone else on the board had any expertise or experience in this area. The main dietary staples I was thinking of would be small amounts of organic poultry, hemp seeds, quinoa, sweet potatoes, extra-virgin coconut oil, steamed veggies and various herbs. I really want to start feeding my dogs strictly homemade meals but I need more education on canine nutrition and caloric requirements. I have a 60-70 lb. purebred Siberian husky and a 35-45 lb. german shepherd/husky mix. Organic poultry, hemp seeds, quinoa, and EVCO should easily provide satisfactory dietary fat and protein needs.
