Hello everyone
I'll be visiting Mexico soon, and I was wondering if I should be extra careful with regard to fresh produce? I was just reading the India thread, about the parasites etc and it got me wondering.

thanks for any advice (:

I guess I would be extra careful. The water there isn't the purest either. I'd get bottled water to drink if it were me.

The water is not good to drink just about everywhere not only Mexico take Luna's advice and get bottled water or if you see coconuts try some coconut water.

As for fresh produce if you stick with fruits you will be OK if you like to eat avocados there are plenty there also.

I have not been to Mexico in years the first 2 times I went I got the runs only lasted a couple of days but at that time I was eating mainly vegetarian cooked food that was over 30 years ago.

If you read most of the guidebooks advise on food they will tell you not to eat anything raw if you cant peel it,So if you listen to what they say just think of fruits and you will be OK.

What part of Mexico are you going?

Love Peace and Happiness,
Cherimoya

When I went to Mexico I stuck to bottled water...even for brushing my teeth. And the fruit was plentiful there and really fresh! You'll find exotic fruits you can't find here. The mango there was out of this world!

Enjoy your trip smiling smiley
