Fruitarian diet (or 811)- weigh gain or weight loss?
Posted by: mira ()

I do need to lose a bit of weight. I've been on the 80-10-10 for , maybe 3 weeks now.

I wa on a high fat raw vegan diet before. SO here'S my question, will all the sugar from fruit make me gain wight, or is it the opposite?

hi mira,

neither. a whole host of factors determine whether one is over or under weight.

focus on health. make dietary choices that have the most benefits and the least negative aspects. ideal weight will likely result automatically.

I think if wish to lose weight and detox...initially you might want to focus on a diet of mostly vegetables....which are lower in calories and help clean you out internally. Keep you fat levels conscious and healthy....certainly no more than 20-30% of your calories. Maintain your activity levels...and you should be fine. But neither regular fruits or vegetables will usually make you gain weight. Just my experience.

-It's hard to get fat eating Kale & Apples (just my experience).

If you've been eating raw gourmet/high fat raw and you go to high fruit or 80, 10,10 your gonna lose weight regardless.

Experiment, have fun!

I lost weight, and I always eat at least 6lbs of fruit a day, along with 1lb of greens, and about 1lb of just cut up veggies. I LOVE RAW!!!

I also wanted to add that at one point I got way too thin - I had cut back on the amount of fruit that I was eating, and was eating more veggies. I am about 5'8 or so and my weight went down to 108. I have brought it back up, to about 115, which is still low. I feel great, and I run about 2 miles a day or more depending on my energy level and the heat in florida! I don't eat a lot of fat - a scoop of chia seeds daily, and maybe 1 avacado over 3 days. I think that I do need to encorporate a bit more fat in my diet if I want to put a bit more weight on. I would like to stay around 125 for my height.

Definitely post more about your journey - I would highly recommend 811,try it for a while and then modify accordingly!

I've found that I eat more overt fats when trying to make veggies more palatable. WHen I can manage to stick with fruit the weight has disappeared no matter how much I eat in a day.

Huh...vegetables...is that the new weightloss thing?

A lot more goes into losing weight/waste than just eating veggies!

Hey so i'm a new born fruitarian and I am loving it so far.

I read your comment and we are the same height so I was wondering at what pace you lost weight? I'm not looking at it as a diet rather have incorporated it as a lifestyle. I exercise 1-1:30 hrs per day and walk a decent bit and take stairs when possible; and consume around 3,000 calories worth of fruit and some carbs.

The only thing that has ever worked for me and weight, besides raw foods, is juicing.
