How long can a Green smoothie stay good
Posted by: Anonymous User ()

I wanna have myself a couple green smoothies before school tomorrow, but I can't make one in the morning cause it's too loud and I don't wanna wake everyone up early. I would like to make one at night and put it in the fridge, but will it still be alright in the morning?

The short answer is - yes and no its not going to be as good as when it was fresh made. Well it still have life force in it - yes. The life force will diminish slowly and steadily from the time that the produce has been cut thus exposing it to the air. To see oxidation at work take a potato and cut it and then watch how quickly the surfaces exposed to the air start turning a brown color. Different foods oxidize at different rates. A GS will still have life force in it the next morning it just won't be as much.

Old green smoothie turns my stomach. How about put everything in the blender and take it out to the garage?

!!!!!!!!

heh heh.. that is how if feel

but, honestly, i do understand your dilemma

green juices stay fresher a bit longer even though they do oxidize they taste better than green smoothies if u have it overnight

u can splash it with some apple juice too and its better than no green juice

put it this way, drinking green juice after it has sit overnight
will not harm you

but it does do me good smiling smiley

then when u get back home from school
if u are still jonesing for a green smoothies

u can make the green smoothie and enjoy that without compromising your neighbor's sleeping patterns

One way to save nutrients overnight would be to put them in a container like a thermos and fill it to the top so there is no air in it and it will keep pretty well. Start by taking the top off the thermos and put the empty thermos and top into the freezer. Then later make your GS and get the thermos out and fill it to the top and put the top on. Let a little spill over into the sink as you fill it so that you get all the air out. Put the thermos into the refrigerator for your breakfast. Drink whatever extra GS won't fit into the thermos.

t would be old and oxidated by then.

is there a reason why you prefer a smoothie over eating fruits and veggies?

This is what I do when I have houseguests over. Not a problem for me. The life force is diminished somewhat, but I still feel great being Raw. Period. Do what you can in the moment and make it work for you.

P.S. I find straight green juices (not smoothies) keep very well in the fridge for a couple of days before the flavor is altered. I wouldn't recommend waiting 1 or 2 days to drink it, just sharing what is possible.

Ditto. Fill them all the way to the top. You can seal them wth a drop of flaxoil, too, to avoid oxidation. I keep mine up to three days.
