Any advice for edema?
Posted by: Anonymous User ()

Anyone have raw food or natural herbal advice for edema? I'm going through a healing crisis this week and the edema has triggered carpal tunnel syndrome as well as angina.

Shouldn't I try to reduce the swelling? But what is the best natural way? I HAVE totally cut out using salt.

Edema is a detoxification system, the inflammation of the wrists and ankles typically. Doing a water fasting while resting in bed is the quickest way to get rid of the symptoms. It is not necessary to reduce the swelling (were you thinking of ice or steroids?), but laying in bed with your limbs elevated might offer some comfort.

Can't think of any kind of herb or specific food to help, but I was wondering if you've been diagnosed with anything specific that would cause the edema like a heart condition or kidney problem. Also, could the edema be a side effect of any medication you are taking? Or a food allergy?

Walking everyday might help if you're not already doing that.

Best wishes for you Carrots, -Ally

PS: I just read Bryan's suggestion for a water fast, and I agree with his advice if you feel strong enough for it. Fast a little, break it easy on juicy fruits or veggies. THEN walk everyday (but you might consider consulting with a doctor if the edema seems very serious, and you don't yet know what's causing it. Never hurts to know.).

Edema can sometimes be reduced by applying a heating pad or very warm compresses to the affected area. This increases circulation and assists the heart in moving fluid out of the extremities. Is it pitting? In other words, if you press your finger into it, does it remain indented for a second or two or three?

How long have you been raw?
