this is Ewa from Poland. Could you please tell me if eg. broccoli or cucumbers are OK as greens in a smoothie? Or do those greens have to be leafy, like romaine? Sorry for my shabby English, Ewa Re: What exactly is considered green in a green smoothie?

Date: October 29, 2006 10:15PM Green smoothies usually consist of mostly green leaves, such as romane, chard, parsley, kale, etc. I don't think techically cucumbers are considered greens, they are fruits, but I think that broccoli would work very well in a green smoothie, if you like the taste and testure of course. I just picked some dandelion greens and mint from my garden and threw them in the blender with some apple. Delish! Re: What exactly is considered green in a green smoothie?

Date: October 31, 2006 02:40AM Why don't we start using a more general term: Vegetable smoothies.
It looks like green smoothies came from Victoria Boutenko studies showing that greens are more nutrutious than roots. Some of my smoothies are yellowship (corn, sweet potatos), red(beet greens and leaves). Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
