Outdoor Labor

I may be working as a laborer for a mason over my holiday break. What should I eat to be able to handle the conditions (cold, possibly snowy)?

Do you have access to some good dates? Dates are in season right now and they tend to be somewhat warming. Generally, sugar really seems to help. I do a produce stand once a week and have to stand out in all weathers and last winter, which was pretty rough here, dates were definitely a big help. Standing still selling produce is tougher than doing labor and being more physically active, although it sounds like you're in a colder climate than I am. I just jump about as much as I can, and of course schlepping the boxes and putting the stand up and breaking it down takes some movement!
