Hey LaV. All's well. Trying to pack everything I want into the new house without going absolutely bankrupt! Ha! ha! In the mean time, I'm growing mostly fruits in containers. Red Navel Oranges, Mulberries, a Macadamia Tree, Papaya Trees, sprouting some oranges. I'll still be renting my condo until they complete the house around June.

-I HAVE planted strawberries before. They don't particularly like extreme heat. My favorite method is to put them in a large hanging pot.....as squirrels or other animals also like to grab an occasional berry or two. They are not an easy plant to get LOTS of berries from consistently.....not like a mulberry tree/bush (which I prefer).....so...you'll usually want to plant perhaps 3-6 strawberry plants. Keep them well watered and with plenty of sun.

-I have tried to grow canteloupe and watermelon before....without too much luck. I'm still refining my methods on those! Ha! ha! I'll have a good chance to do that out at the farm.

-Hope your green thumbs keep their chlorophyl LaV!

More lycopene than usual. There will be many more red citrus varieties in the future, some guys are working on identifying the particular genes responsible and these will be inserted into the usual types to moew make red hybrid babies.

We have a lot of them here in Fla, they are great, they are mainly available in Jan-Feb and I miss them already. But red grapefruit, which I don't like as much, is still around.

Ha! ha! That's great Suvi! I still need to forward you the e-mail and names of everyone that was at the potluck! Ha! ha! I apologize. I'll get it out.

-Check me out! I'm staring so intently at that slice of Papaya! LOL. Like I'm trying to burn a hole in it or something!

-Anyway.....it was great to get a chance to meet you and your Mom! I appreciate you making me feel right at home back in the old stomping ground! You floated so gracefully and quietly while you were taking those pictures. Like a butterfly! smiling smiley

Yup. Blueberries are great. Very seasonal also.....so only readily available once per year for a month or so......if you are growing them yourself. Bummer. Apparently there are two main types: Highbush and some other low shrub type. I'm gonna grow a couple of plants, but I much prefer something that is ever-bearing....all year round......or has a nice long growing season! Ha! ha!

They yield in late May (here in Florida)...and produce for a month or two. There are the highbush...and rabbit-eye....I think. Anyway...planting them in spring should be fine. I understand they do quite well in containers! That's mostly how I'm gonna plant these days. Fruit plants tend to produce much sooner in containers...from what I have observed. smiling smiley When I get a bunch of small mulberry cuttings rooted, I'll ship you a couple of trees LaV!
