Brain Cancer
Posted by: m ()
Date: August 30, 2007 06:41PM

i have a friend who has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor. she is considering foregoing the conventional treatments (radiation/chemo/etc) and doing a regiman of herbs/supplements, accupuncture and raw foods (she has already been doing raw foods for a year).

i'm thinking that the best recommendation for her would be a high green juice, increased sprouts, a lot of greens, some nuts/seeds/avocado, but LOW sugar diet.

i just wanted some opinions on this one! i have read and heard several things
regarding sugar intake and cell cancer growth (listed below).....please share your experiences and thoughts!

1) i have read that cancer cells have as many as 6 to 17 times as many receptor sites for insulin. insulin brings glucose into the cells....and cancer cells feed on the glucose. if the cancer cell is not exposed to glucose or insulin, it is less likely to thrive.

2) Lactic acid has been proven to be generated by cancer cell metabolism (through fermentation):

"In 1931, the great Nobel laureate in medicine Otto Warburg, Ph.D. first discovered that cancer cells have a fundamentally and totally different energy metabolism compared to healthy cells. In his Nobel thesis, Dr. Warburg postulated that malignant tumors frequently exhibit an increase in anaerobic glycolysis - a process whereby glucose is used as a fuel by cancer cells with lactic acid as byproduct.

This is drastically different from normal tissues that use oxygen as the primary source of fuel. The large amount of lactic acid produced by this fermentation process of glucose from cancer cells is transported to the liver. The lactic acid generates a lower and more acidic pH in cancerous tissues as well as overall physical fatigue from lactic acid buildup. The patient therefore becomes tired easily.

Furthermore, this anaerobic (fermentation) pathway for energy metabolism in cancerous cells is highly inefficient. The chemical process of energy production by this pathway yields only two moles of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) energy per mole of glucose as compared to 38 moles of ATP in the complete aerobic oxidation of glucose in normal cells. By extracting only about five percent (two vs. 38 moles of ATP) of the available energy in the food supply and the body's caloric stores, the cancer is, in effect, "wasting" energy. Hence the patient becomes tired and undernourished. This vicious cycle increases body wasting. This is one reason why 40 percent of cancer patients die from malnutrition or cachexia."

thank you for any input!

yes...i know she has done some fruit/green juice fasts in the past for a couple weeks at a time.

so the question still remains....should fruit juice be included in the fast?
should she stick to green juices and/or water?

thank you for the reply aquadecoco...i'll be awaiting your pm.

much love,

Opinion:

-If they are serious about avoiding western medical cancer treatments.....then a regimen of daily country living, non-stress, uplifting reading, service work to others, sunlight, sunbathing, light exercise, and alternate single juice/water fasts will facilitate true inner detox and healing within a relatively short time. The person must wisely guage their own detox levels and adjust accordingly. I'm sure your friend will recover with a mind that dwells in love...and not in fighting disease.

if i were your friend i would do the following:

- take lots of chlorella

- take lots of beet root (fresh juice or freeze dried powder mixed into water)

- take some mushroom immune boosters (maitake, shiitake, cordyceps, reishi, agaricus)

- drink some herbal teas (neem leaf and olive leaf are good)

- take some olive leaf extract

- drink lots of fresh veggie juice to flood the body with nutrients

- eat broccoli, broccoli sprouts and other cruciferous vegetables

- (as David said) regular sunbathing, reduce stress, regular exercise, clean water, clean air, reduce toxic burden, sleep well, etc.

- reduce intake of omega 6 fatty acids to balance 6/3 ratio. maybe include some ground flax daily, or hempseed

- maybe even take some adaptogens like ginseng, eleuthero, and ashwaganda to help buffer to stress.

Read the book "The Cure to All Diseases" by Hulda Clark. She also has one for cancer, too. Parasite zap. Clean up the environment. Alkalize the body by eating raw vegan and drinking water with juiced lemon in it. Stop drinking all soda. Get some B17 via Apricot Kernels. Stop using a cell phone, etc. See below. My friend found out he had cancer a couple of years ago in the abdominal region via a dream that I related to him. He did all that was required. He was already modified raw and he also took the Apricot Kernels. He is cancer free now and has no more "digestive" problems. I wish your friend health. Therese

*CANCER CELLS FEED ON: **
*
a. _Sugar _is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one
important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like
NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is
harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses
but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make
it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. _Milk_ causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the
gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and
substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an _acid environment_. A meat-based diet is
acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than
beef
or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and
parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds,
nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline
environment.
About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable
juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to
cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of
healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try
and
drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts)
and
eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at
temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid _coffee, tea, and chocolate_, which have high caffeine. Green
tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties.
Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins
and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive
enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified
and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from
or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls
of
cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer
cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence,
Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the
body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like
vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the
body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded
cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and
positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger,
unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic
environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to
relax
and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising
daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular
level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer
cells.

*CANCER UPDATE FROM JOHN HOPKINS HOSPITAL , U S - PLEASE READ **

*1. No plastic containers in micro.

2. No water bottles in freezer.

3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This
information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as
well. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins
are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your
plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the
plastic.

Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle
Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked
about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not
be
heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers.

_This especially applies to foods that contain fat_.

He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases
dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or
ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only
without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and
soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in
something else.

Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just
safer
to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while
ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam
containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as
dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the
food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt
out of the plastic wrap
and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

More on Laetrile Vitamin B-17 [two items]
[curezone.com]
Laetrile -Vitamin B17 -amygdalin
The diet of primitive man and most fruit-eating animals was very rich in nitrilosides. They regularly ate the seeds (and kernels) of all fruits, since these seeds are rich in protein, polyunsaturated fats, and other nutrients. Seeds also contain as much as 2 per cent or more nitriloside. There are scores of other major foods naturally, or normally, very rich in nitriloside.
Index
Vitamin B-17 (nitriloside, amygdaline) is a designation proposed to include a large group of water-soluble, essentially non-toxic, sugary, compounds found in over 800 plants, many of which are edible. These factors are collectively known as Beta-cyanophoric glycosides. They comprise molecules made of sugar, hydrogen cyanide, a benzene ring or an acetone. Though the intact molecule is for all practical purposes completely non-toxic, it may be hydrolyzed by Beta-glycosidase to a sugar, free hydrogen cyanide, benzaldehyde or acetone.
Apricot Kernels (Vitamin B17)
Apricot Kernels are the richest source of B17 (Laetrile). Ernst Krebs is the world's leading authority on the relationship between cancer and nitrilosides, and the inventor of laetrile.

* G. Edward Griffin's book World Without Cancer (American Media, 1974), available from Health World

* Ernst Krebs discussion of the Trophoblast Theory of Cancer
* Ernst Krebs discussion of Trophoblasts and Morning Sickness
* Ernst Krebs discussion of the Metabolism of nitrilosides (Vitamin B17)
* Charles Gurchot's explanation of How Vitamin B17 Works

Apricot kernels are known to prevent and cure cancer, even though the medical establishment has worked night and day and even lied to suppress it. Vitamin B17 is found in most all fruit seeds such as the apple, peach, cherry, orange, nectarine and apricot. It is found in some beans and many grasses such as wheat grass. The hard wooden pit in the middle of the peach is not supposed to be thrown away. In fact, the wooden shell is strong armor protecting one of the most important foods known to man, the seed. It is one of the main courses of food in cultures such as the Navajo Indians, the Hunzas the Abkhasians and many more. Did you know that within these tribes there has never been a reported case of cancer. (And there are doctors and scientists from the U.S. Living within these tribes right now studying this phenomena) We don't need to make the seed a main course but we do need the equivalent of about seven apricots seeds per day to nearly guarantee a cancer free life. Other foods that contain vitamin B-17 are: bitter almonds, millet, wheat grass, lima beans and more. (The bitter almond tree was banned from the U.S. In 1995.) The kernel or seed contains the highest amounts of vitamin B17.
One of the most common nitrilosides is amygdalin. This nitriloside occurs in the kernels of seeds of practically all fruits. The seeds of apples, apricots, cherries, peaches, plums, nectarines, and the like carry this factor; often in the extraordinary concentration of 2 to 3 per cent. Since the seeds of fruits are possibly edible, it may be proper to designate the non-toxic water soluble accessory food factor or nitriloside that they contain as vitamin B-17. The presence of nitriloside in the diet produces specific physiologic effects and leaves as metabolites specific chemical compounds of a physiologically active nature. The production by a non-toxic, water-soluble accessory food factor of specific physiological effects as well as identifiable metabolites suggests the vitamin nature of the compound.
In metabolism, nitriloside is hydrolyzed to free hydrogen cyanide, benzaldehyde or acetone and sugar. This occurs largely through the enzyme Beta-glucosidase produced by intestinal bacteria as well as by the body. The released HCN [hydrocyanide] is detoxified by the enzyme rhodanese to the relatively non-toxic thiocyanate molecule. The sugar is normally metabolized. The released benzaldehyde in the presence of oxygen is immediately oxidized to benzoic acid which is non-toxic. Thus this newly designated vitamin B-17 (nitriloside) could account for:

1. The thiocyanates in the body fluids--blood, urine, saliva, sweat, and tears;
2. For part of the benzoic acid (and subsequently hippuric acid); salicylic acid isomers;
3. For the HCN that goes to the production of cyanocobalamin from hydrocobalamin, or production of vitamin B12 from provitamin B12.

These are the physiological properties of the common nitriloside amygdalin. Before considering the possible antineoplastic activity of this vitamin B-17, let us recall that the benzoic acid arising from it has certain antirheumatic and antiseptic properties. It was rather widely used (in Germany and elsewhere) for rheumatic disease therapy prior to the advent of the ortho-hydroxy addition product of benzoic acid known as ortho-hydroxybenzoic acid or salicylic acid. It was originally obtained from beech-wood bark. As a matter of interest, the para- hydroxy isomer of benzoic acid occurs in the para hydroxybenzaldehyde aglycon (non-sugar) of the nitriloside found in the cereal millet. Millet was once more widely used in human nutrition than wheat. Wheat seed contains little or no nitriloside.
Recall now, that thiocyanate also was once widely used, in both Germany and American medicine, as an effective agent for hypertension. Used as such, as the simple chemical, the dosage was difficult to control. Obviously, this difficulty does not arise from the thiocyanate usually produced in the body through metabolizing vitamin B-17 (nitriloside). However, chronic hypotension has been reported in Nigerians who eat quantities of the nitriloside-containing manioc (cassava)--especially that of the bitter variety.
Let us pause to reflect upon this question: Might not the rheumatic diseases as well as certain aspects of hypertension be in some cases partially related to a dietary deficiency in nitrilosides? One can hardly deny that the ingestion of a sufficient quantity of nitriloside-containing foods will metabolically yield sufficient benzoic acid and/or salicylic acid isomers to palliate rheumatic disease and certainly to decrease, however temporarily, hypertension as well as to foster the nitrilosation of provitamin B-12 to active vitamin B-12: cyanocobalamin.
Despite all this, are we justified in suggesting that cancer itself might be another chronic metabolic disease that arises from a specific vitamin deficiency--a deficiency specifically in vitamin B-17 (nitriloside)?
There are many chronic or metabolic diseases that challenge medicine. Many of these diseases have already been conquered. What proved to be their solution? By solution we mean both prevention and cure. What really cures really prevents. Let us think of some of these diseases that have found total prevention and hence cure. We are speaking of metabolic or non-transmissible diseases. At one time the metabolic disease known as scurvy killed hundreds of thousands of people, sometimes entire populations. This disease found total prevention and cure in the ascorbic acid or vitamin C component of fruits and vegetables. Similarly, the once fatal diseases so aptly called pernicious anemia, pellagra, beri beri, countless neuropathies, and the like, found complete cure and prevention in specific dietary factors, that is, essential nutrients in an adequate diet.

Let's go a step further, almost to the border of dogmatism, to advance an axiom in medicine and biology:
No chronic or metabolic disease has ever found cure or prevention, that is, real cure and real prevention--except through factors essential to an adequate diet and/or normal to animal economy.
I would welcome a contradiction to this principle; but even an exception would "prove the rule."
Does it seem likely, therefore, that cancer will be the first exception to this generalization that to date has not had a single known exception? In my humble opinion, certainly not. But does it follow from this that vitamin B-17 (nitriloside) is the specific antineoplastic vitamin? Logically, by itself, alone, this conclusion that nitriloside is the specific antineoplastic vitamin does not follow. However, examine the brilliant laboratory studies of Dr. Dean Burk of the Department of Cytochemistry of the National Cancer Institute in Washington. I believe that in light of the experimental evidence that he has produced, you might agree that vitamin B-17 (nitriloside) is indeed the antineoplastic vitamin.*
One might ask, then, whether we suggest that vitamin B-17 (nitriloside) or Laetrile is an effective cancer drug. Our reply must be: it is not a drug; it is a

Also, stop using a cell phone as that has also been linked to cancer.

ubject: Brain & Eye Cancer From Cell Phones

Dr. George Carlo has described the marketing strategies aimed at children as “grotesque,” and says it’s a perfect example of the industry’s institutional arrogance.

He should know because he used to work for the cell phone industry, but now is its most outspoken critic.

In a widely distributed interview for a New Zealand news show in May, Carlo said there are currently 30,000 to 50,000 new cases of brain and eye cancer attributable to cell phone use being diagnosed every year. Based on current epidemiological studies, that number will reach half a million cases by 2010.

“We have never had this kind of impending risk to society,” he said during the interview (attempts to reach Dr. Carlo for this story were unsuccessful, but you can see the interview at:

www.tv3.co.nz/News/tabid/67/articleID/7593/Default.aspx

From 1993 until 2000, Carlo was the handpicked chief scientist in an industry-funded research program, an initiative announced one week after a Florida man appeared on “Larry King Live” to explain why he had filed suit against the cell phone industry for the brain tumor that killed his wife.

In 2001 Carlo chronicled his seven frustrating years running – or trying to run – the $28 million research program in a book called “Cell Phones: Invisible Hazards in the Wireless Age” that he wrote with journalist Martin Schram.

While the industry said upfront it wanted straight scientific results, to Carlo’s disappointment he soon learned that many high-powered people were on hand to put a positive spin on whatever came from the research, even if that meant denying results.

During his time in office, two different research projects found genetic damage in human blood caused by cell phone emissions. Another project found an increased risk of cell phone users suffering from acoustic neuroma, a rare non-cancerous tumor that affects hearing. Another found a breakdown in the blood brain barrier in the brains of rats exposed to radio waves. Four others found evidence of an increased risk of brain tumors among cell phone users. Another found an increased risk of lymphoma with prolonged radio wave exposure.

And the industry sold more phones.

Science, schmience

Since 1973 Dr. Om Gandhi had been quietly publishing the results of his research into the biological effects of electromagnetic energy. He was particularly interested in the absorption rate in human tissue, which is quaintly known as coupling.

“Nobody bothered me,” said the much-honored professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

That all changed with the October 1996 issue of the journal IEEE Transactions of Microwave Theory and Techniques, which contained a paper called “Electromagnetic Absorption in the Human Head and Neck for Mobile Telephones at 835 and 1900 MHz,” results of a study conducted by Gandhi and two doctoral students, Gianluca Lazzi, now a professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering at the North Carolina state University in Raleigh, and Cynthia Furse, now a colleague of Gandhi’s at Utah.

“I think Om’s assessment is dead on,” Furse said. “It was quite an eye-opener as a grad student/post doc to be sort of ‘dropped’ into the politics of the situation when we were just doing interesting science. There is still an active debate internationally about the interpretation of the analysis included in that paper on cell phones and children.”

Furse currently works on finding faults in aging aircraft wiring.

“The truly professional way in which Om balanced the research and debates has provided a very valuable basis for me to manage similar challenges in this line of research,” she said.

That 1996 study showed an alarming rate of electromagnetic penetration in the form of radio frequency from cell phones coupling with the brains of children, compared to the already disturbing amount of radiation entering an adult’s brain while using a cell (see accompanying graphic).

“Nobody bothered me all these years until I stumbled onto this,” Gandhi said. “I didn’t know at the time industry was targeting children as the next growth segment. Boy, they really got after me.”

The cell phone industry got after one of the pioneers in the research of electromagnetic fields because he found that the thinner outer ears and skulls of children allow more energy from the cell phone antenna to couple with brain tissue. The industry got him by trying to discredit his work through studies disputing his findings.

“The reason industry doesn’t like it. They don’t want to lose this part of the market. They don’t want to cast doubts,” he said. “They started to publish that ‘he cannot be right because we don’t find that.’ We have published three or four more papers since then, which more or less showed the same thing, but it is the original publication they continue to attack.”

Does anyone else smell tobacco smoke, as in the tobacco industry denying and obfuscating the fact that cigarettes are harmful to the human body?

“One of the papers shows how every millimeter closer (the cell phone is) to the body, increases the coupling to the body,” Gandhi said. “And here we are with a child’s much thinner earlobe and much thinner skull. Every millimeter changes the energy couple to the tissue by 7 to 12 percent.”

Now, what it means for greater coupling in children, or for anyone, for that matter, remains a matter of whose study you choose to believe. U.S. industry studies continue to show no harmful effects from cell phone radiation, whereas European studies, as some pre-industry crackdown studies from the 1990s that were actually funded by the industry, have found everything from nervousness and headaches to brain tumors and even genetic damage as a result of cell phone radiation.

Great Britain has for several years been cautioning against cell phone use by children.

“Unfortunately, there has been very little research on long-term effects of cell phones and radiation,” Gandhi said. “These days, because of the insistence of the European Union, it’s funding all the research in Europe. There is no research being done in the United States at the present time, even though we started this field back in the early 1970s. All of that research has been stopped because of industry.”

Which is a shame, because it appears to be in violation of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, which requires federal agencies to evaluate the effects of their actions on the human environment, and that includes the Federal Communication Commission, which regulates the transmitters and facilities that expose humans to RF energy.

“I am a professor. I have no axe to grind,” Gandhi said, still seemingly baffled by the reception of that paper 10 years ago. “I’ve written over 200 papers. They never objected to anything, but they didn’t like this one. They went out and hired other scientists that they funded to say my research was not correct.”

Despite the spin the cell phone industry tried to put on Gandhi’s work, he soldiers on in the interest of science, humanity and truth.

Has latest paper appeared in the July issue of IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, and is titled “Thermal Implications of the New Relaxed IEEE RF Safety Standard for Head Exposures to Cellular Telephones at 835 and 1900 MHz.”

It looks at the relaxed RF exposure standards set by the professional advisory group, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, compared to earlier standards Gandhi helped establish and standards followed by the European Union as established by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection.

“These days in the committee (that sets the standards), one co-chair is from Motorola (C.K. Chou) and the other is from the Navy, the military-industrial establishment (Dr. John D’Andrea), and they are suddenly loosening their standards. I compared the three standards to show the new standards are out of line. Too loose.”

If you are feeding a person with cancer a low sugar/carb diet, this means that the calories are either coming from fat or protein. If the calories are coming from fat, this will reduce the blood's ability to carry oxygen and nutrients to the cells in the body. Cancer thrives in a environment with low oxygen.

If you are eating a high protein diet, this will create uric acid as a byproduct of protein metabolism, and tax the kidneys and acidify the body. Cancer thrives in an acidic body.

The by product of fat metabolism also creates an acidic environment. When there are not enough carbs, ketone bodies are created as a byproduct of the fat metabolism. This is a toxic byproduct that will only go towards weakening an already weak body.

By the way, when you eat excess protein, the protein metabolism converts the protein into sugar. When you eat excess fat, the body converts the fat into sugar. Ultimately, what nourishes every cell in the body is sugar. So if you get your sugar from fresh fruits, there is very little toxic byproduct of the fruits metabolism, unless the person has sugar related blood issues brought on by a high fat diet. If there is hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia/insulin resistance/diabetes (type2) involved, this is brought on by eating a high fat diet.

What is excess protein? Probably anything over 3-5% of your caloric intake. What is excess fat? Probably anything over 5-7% of your caloric intake. So a person eating 40% fat, the 3-5% gets utilized as fatty acids for lubrication, insulation, etc, and the rest in converted into sugar. A person eating 15% protein will uses a few percent for the amino acids, the rest gets converted into sugar.

great info on this thread. other than your friend's misfortune, m.

i have heard of special chips you can put into a cell phone to block radiation. or a cover. are any of you familiar with this or do any of you know what it is called?
