Anyone have a RAW recipe for Kombucha?

Date: October 26, 2007 06:34PM I'm sick of reading recipes that have white sugar in it. Can't I at least use raw sugar? There's got to be a modified recipe somewhere that still makes it "Raw" and "healthy"
These stupid Synergy drinks cost too much and half the time there's a bad batch or bad shipping and they're flat. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 10/26/2007 06:35PM by LikeItOrNot. Re: Anyone have a RAW recipe for Kombucha?

Don't worry about the sugar. You won't be consuming the sugar, the SCOBY does. The SCOBY, like a plant that consumes substances that would be poisonous to you and transforms them into what is beneficial to you. Nature has it all figured out. inspirit - aka coolkarma Re: Anyone have a RAW recipe for Kombucha?

man, my kombuchas were monsters- i had a very happy compost pile. i'd use white sugar if i started making it now, cheaper, and that mushroom thing will eat whatever you give it. so, you can use raw sugar, you just have to monitor it a bit more closely- not to overage or get vinegar. peace- Re: Anyone have a RAW recipe for Kombucha?

I've never made it before so the last sentence is way over my head. lol I don't get why it's just about feeding the scoby. I mean if you fed it a raw sugar which would have more nutrients/whatever in it, wouldn't it "transform" more nutrients or whatever into the kombucha ?
