Hi. I am researching raw foodism for a school health project and am looking for a little clarification
what is meant by raw sprouts, grains & seeds?
does this mean that the nuts that you buy at the store processed?

also, i dont understand that practice of soaking nuts and seeds for 24 hours before consuming them - can someone please explain this?

thank you very much!

nuts and seeds are very dry, soaking them so they absorb lots of water makes them much more digestable. it also begins the sprouting cycle, where the seed starts to grow into a plant. the nutritional value can increase greatly during sprouting.

some people soak things to wash away the enzyme inhibitors on them in the belief that those inhibitors will interfer with digestion, this is a mistaken belief however.

sprouting seeds to grow baby greens is an excellent source of inexpensive, nutrient dense green food.

What coco said was correct.

Plus things that are soaked become for more digestable. Fats break down into fatty acids, protiens into amino acids, vitamen and enzyme content goes up.

Raw nuts and seeds are not processed in any way. Something processed will not sprout.

Do an experiment. Soak some different nuts and seeds then taste them back to back with unsoaked ones and you notice a big difference.
