Date: March 14, 2008 10:22PM Wheatberries (If you eat wheat, I don't) - the gluten in wheat makes a chewing gum. You can use unsoaked berries, but it is harder and takes longer to develop a glue, I would soak the berries a few hours until they swell, then chew on them trying not to swallow them and eventually the gluten will develop into a gum. I read about it in Mother Earth News when I was a kid and I've done it a few times.
I tried to find a link about it but all I could find was a little blurb at the bottom of an article. [www.hpj.com] We used to chew wheat to make chewing gum when we were kids. The moisture and chewing turned the wheat protein to gluten--the strands that make bred rise. Re: chewing gum

Date: March 15, 2008 01:59AM I like to eat the "cappings" from raw honey, it has peices of beeswax, pollen and propolis. I think it tastes delecious; you can chew the wax for a long time just like gum.
It's raw but not vegan Re: chewing gum
