Ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 question

Date: June 10, 2008 11:51AM The green smoothie is my breakfast, lunch and pre-dinner appetizer (about 8.5 cups daily). I use a variety of seeds and nuts along with flaxseed in my smoothie daily.
I noticed my Omega 3 intake just from my fruits/veggies smoothie is 2 grams vs. 7.6 grams Omega 6. Was just curious: is this a good ratio? I do not eat any processed foods, so my Omega 6 is from plant sources. Additional thoughts: -How would I get it to a 1:1 ratio? -Is a 1:1 ratio the "ideal" ratio for these lipids? -What would happen if the Omega 3 far outweighed the Omega 6 balance? Thanks in advance for your thoughts, comments. Re: Ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 question

Date: June 10, 2008 12:43PM Experts are recommending that the 6:3 ration should be between 2:1 and 4:1. This is best for conversion of the short-chain omega3 to the long- chain omega3. Japan recently changed their rec from 4:1 to 2:1.
I am not sure that there is any reason to aim for 1:1 if you get better conversion at 2:1. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
