Date: August 23, 2008 04:00AM coco - You read a little bit but you probably haven't read enough of it to grasp that they are trying to make a case for an omnivorous diet. You probably haven't got to that part, they get into that at the end, after they have presented all the info. I read this long ago and got snookered and confused too.
What I find interesting is how they make the case that humans use so much energy for mental functions compared to apes: "Human brain MR 3.5 times higher than apes." and this creates the need for more energy: "Clearly, even relative to other primate species, humans are distinct in the proportion of metabolic needs for the brain." and this leads us to needing to eat meat "What made meat an important resource to exploit was not its high protein content, rather, its high caloric return..." While I'm reading this I'm thinking about is how glucose (fruit sugar) is the best source of brain fuel and also about all the inventors and great thinkers who were vegans; the ancient philosophers, Leonardo Da Vinci ect. Ummmm, I think they are wrong! [www.beyondveg.com] Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/23/2008 04:05AM by Lillianswan. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
