Salad Bowls.......?

Date: August 18, 2008 11:32PM Anyone ever see a stainless steel bowl with a lid? I was looking around today in stores and ending up settling for a regular stainless steel "mixing" bowl..3 quarts for $14.99.. kind of expensive but I was frustrated at that point. lol. I even looked at the stainless steel canisters with air tight lids but eh wouldn't make a good salad bowl.
I used to use a big plastic tuperware one but started smelling too much like plastic so it got thrown out. Also, those salad spinenrs... what is the biggest of those? Any brand recommendations? I've seen some that I guess are eletric and others you spin yourself? I don't get it. Re: Salad Bowls.......?

I just wanted something with a cover since I like to make a big bowl of it and saran wrap is a pain. Re: Salad Bowls.......?

Date: August 19, 2008 12:22AM I use a large glass bowel too. You can find glass bowls with plastic lids easier.
Green and fruit salads look brighter and more colorful in glass. I know it's just my imagination, but it seems the brighter colors make the salad taste better. Re: Salad Bowls.......?

Date: August 19, 2008 05:26AM I use the large, family size, wooden salad bowl from IKEA...fill it up with everything but the kitchen sink...and eat the whole thing by myself in one sitting. Normally takes 60 to 90 minutes to finish chewing. Re: Salad Bowls.......?

How big? Freezing glass other than canning jars would make my life easier with dog/cat food. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/19/2008 05:31AM by LikeItOrNot. Re: Salad Bowls.......?

Date: August 19, 2008 05:35AM those aren't the ones i had, mine were square and the glass was pretty thick.
the biggest ones i had were roughly 6-7" square and about the same high. pretty darn big. leave about an inch of free space at the top of the container and freeze with the lid only loosely on to accomodate swelling of the liquid, once it's all frozen put the lid on tightly. I either eat the whole thing or put what I can't finish in the blender for the dogs so I don't need a lid. Some days I do it twice in a day. Re: Salad Bowls.......?

Yeah, we have glass with plastic lids in the grocery stores here too in the US but they're much smaller than what I want. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
