"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." optimist or pessimist? i LOVE this quote because it brings to the fore what I LOVE to do which is to see opportunity in every difficulty i figure: i got a choice which one will make my life easier and happier? no brainer to switch ( when i catch myself ) from one to another Re: Which one are you?

Date: October 14, 2008 01:30PM I do both, I guess, depending on the situation. I don't think it's black or white. If I encounter an opporunity, but it doesn't 'have my name on it,' so to speak, I will see it as not worth my while, and maybe even consider it difficult. But if I see something that I really want to do or have, I'll definitely seize it as an opportunity. I think sometimes we can waste a lot of energy trying to make lemonade out of some things that really are lemons.
I had an opportunity recently to place my music CDs on a commercial website. There were a lot of conditions and hassles involved, and also some risk. I talked to Jonathan about it and we decided this was not the right opportunity. I guess it's kind of a Taoist thing for me-- seeking simplicity, avoiding a lot of worldly hassles-- so I would have to say I don't think some opportunities are all they're cracked up to be, yet in general I'm an optimist and look on the bright side of things. Its interesting to view lifestyle issues like eating and exercise as difficulties or opportunities. Re: Which one are you?

Date: October 15, 2008 12:14AM I am an optimist.....since I believe we set up and 'create' a great deal of our own reality. Since it's so important what I PROJECT....then optimist is the only way to go......for me.

if it is not taken, it is just a path but i thought opportunities were the ones that were taken that is how i saw this quote even though the definition is just one sided i am thinking that if i make a concerted choice to TAKE an opportunity i might as well look for the opportunities within the difficulties thus opportunities within opportunities not always easy but this helps me Re: Which one are you?

Date: October 21, 2008 12:33AM I believe that difficulty and oppurtunity are very important aspects of life. If everything was easy to obtain then, this would be a very uneventful world. I wouldn't want to live in an unchallenging world. lol And if there were no oppurtunities then life would suck and blow at the same time. I don't I could even describe such a dust brown world of deppression and stale bitterness would be ruler over humanity... So anyway, I don't really know what I would call myself. I guess I am just me. lol Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
