Date: October 24, 2008 11:58PM I've been using Rubbermaid plastic containers with a
couple of paper towels in each to help absorb the moisture. Curly Kale will keep two weeks, and Italian Parsley almost as long. I'm sure many of you use Green Bags......WY [img.photobucket.com] Re: How do you store your Produce?

I have read about orthorexists (sp?) who rush from the garden to the table so as to minimize nutrient losses. A friend bought me some of those special bags for greens but I haven't used them yet. Re: How do you store your Produce?

Date: October 25, 2008 03:20AM All my greens stay in the standard clear plastic bags I buy them in from the organic market, and fruits stay out on the table until ripe, at which point I put them in the refrigerator as is. Nothing special.
Since I live on my own it's pretty easy to gauge the amount of food I'm going to go through, and therefore what I want to buy. Very little goes to waste. Re: How do you store your Produce?

Date: October 25, 2008 12:50PM When I buy lettuces,I wash everything, then spin in a salad spinner, then put into zip loc bags.Romaine keeps 2 weeks just fine like that.
Watermelon,I just put into a plastic shopping bag and close with a tie.If I eat 1/2 apple or other fruit,I wrap the rest up tightly with plastic wrap. Just common sense stuff. Brian Re: How do you store your Produce?

Date: October 25, 2008 01:21PM All over the place!!! I have a couple of boxes of tomatoes on the dining room table, peppers & onions on the counter (more tomatoes too), dried veggies in mason jars in the pantry, corn and peppers in the freezer, and we made a third fruit drawer for the fridge out of a box. Some produce is in bags, some are not. Mushrooms are in paper bags or a clay crock. Peppers are in the shop, too, carrots in the ground (we pull them as we need them), onions and potatoes all over the place. Nuts are in the fridge and freezer. Re: How do you store your Produce?
