in order for them to put it in a can
as a rule
they cook it to the max

to allegedly prevent bacteria
but it sure doesn't prevent botulism
nor does it prevent a host of other stuff

canned foods
like twinkies
last a long time
i wonder why

raw foods
are perishable

i think anything canned has to be cooked first in order to sit on a shelf without refrigeration; as for the peanut butter, i have no idea. you should get the brand and look it up online

Peanut butter isn't raw and it's very toxic too. Best to substitute with almond butter. You can buy truly raw peanuts, but they're rare and don't taste anything like normal, SAD peanuts

The canning process uses intense heat--you know, like home canning, which requires boiling filled jars of fruit or whatever in water to seal the jars. It's basically the same thing with canning in metal, but because the stuff will be sitting somewhere other than your basement, and for longer, the foods in a can must have the bejesus cooked out of them to "prevent" food borne germs from multiplying in the can. That's why everything out of a can looks so dead and gray : )

When food shopping in a store I stay out of the areas that have cans etc in them unless it is necessary to go through them to get to the produce section. The potato chip aisle looks like the aisle of death to me.
