Oxalic acid and spinach

Date: November 28, 2008 05:58PM I'm having a love affair with spinach since...4 or 5 weeks. I can eat up to 800 grams or so in a day, almost everyday...
But i saw an article on oxalic acid, saying it may reduce one's effective intake of dietary calcium, iron and other minerals... Is it dangerous to eat large amounts of spinach like that everyday? Re: Oxalic acid and spinach

this topic has been discussed for a while but i myself have not seen the solution or resolution to this topic in the many threads i have read i did however think up of one thing and that is this: if oxalic acid does reduce the absorption of calcium iron etc. wouldn't it make sense to simply INCREARSE the amount of consumption of those calcium iron etc. containing veggies? if i juice spinach i am sure to juice it with other greens as well that are high in minerals including calcium being mindful of ratios is a good thing Re: Oxalic acid and spinach

It seems logical to increase the consumption of vegetables high in calcium and iron when eating lots of spinach... But i don't know if it would actually make a difference... One would have to increase his iron and calcium intake, so that their is no more oxalic acid available to hang on the minerals, but how can we mesure that...? Re: Oxalic acid and spinach

oxalic acid is in a lot of cruciferous vegetables though, which are recommended to take daily and a lot of i would take some blood tests ooorr see a doctor and see if it really is cutting down on your ability to absorb calcium/etc. ? Re: Oxalic acid and spinach
