Date: January 19, 2009 08:54PM I am about to start training for my first marathon, and want to make sure I'm eating properly (getting all the calories, etc that I need). I eat vegtables daily, but my main calorie source comes from fruits (a variety of them and as many of them as my body tells me I need). I've never felt as good as I do now that I am eating raw. I would love any suggestions on what to incorporate into my diet, number of calories to consume, etc, while training. Thanks for all of your help!

Date: January 19, 2009 10:30PM I did the Loch Ness Marathon last year. I found that fruit was a fantastic fuel.
I think you might get hungrier as you step up the weekly mileage - just eat and sleep according to your needs. On a training point of view, remember to step up the weekly mileage by no more than 10% a week or you risk injury - and there is nothing more frustrating. And drop the mileage right back every fourth week to give your legs a breather. Sorry if you already know this - but best of luck with your training. Enjoy - i have a couple of big races on the agenda this year too. Re: Training for a marathon....any suggestions

I'd advise you not to......train for a marathon that is. I've run in (and completed) three marathons over the years, and wish I had not now. It puts a terrible strain on the human body. Save your energy (and your body) for shorter races.....like the 5K, or the One Mile fun run......WY Re: Training for a marathon....any suggestions

to avoid injuries. Notice how Dr. Romanov critiques a World-Class runner (who has poor technique) in following video clip......WY [www.posetech.com] Re: Training for a marathon....any suggestions
